MG Blues

 Montréal, Quebec, CAN
BandBluesAcoustic

Authenticity isn’t quite as important for MG Blues. Michael Mansour and André Grondin are an acoustic guitar/harmonica duo from Montreal with a rather more contemporary feel. They have included eight Sonny Boy songs clearly having a feel for the material.

Biography

Michael Mansour divides his time between two passions: medecine and music. He practices the former with compassion among society's most destitute and the latter with intensity in his everyday life. Constantly in search of new ideas, Michael Mansour is into everything and never ceases to explore and let himself be inspired by the world that surrounds him.

André Grondin reveals his exceptional talent for the first time on CD. Following in the bluesmen's footsteps, he spends most of his time ''blowing'' his harmonica wherever he may be. Well-known in the local blues world, he is regurlaly called upon to play with groups working the Montreal scene.

Sonny Boy's Jump

Written By: John Lee Williamson

Sonny Boy's Jump

(Instrumental and harmonica intro)

When my baby left me
My baby left me a mule to ride
When my baby left me
My baby left me a mule to ride
Now when the train left the station
My mule laid down an died

You know I sent my baby
You know, a brand new twenty dollar bill
You know I sent my baby
You know a brand new twenty dollar bill
Now if that don't bring her back
I'm sho' my shotgun will

(harmonica, piano & instrumental)

Now if I can't come in
Let me sit down in front of your do'
Now if I can't come in
Let me sit down in front of your do'
I'll leave so early in the mo'nin
Your real man would never know

(harmonica, piano & instrumental)

Me and the Devil

Written By: Robert Johnson

Early this mornin'
when you knocked upon my door
Early this mornin', ooh
when you knocked upon my door
And I said, "Hello, Satan,"
I believe it's time to go."

Me and the Devil
was walkin' side by side
Me and the Devil, ooh
was walkin' side by side
And I'm goin' to beat my woman
until I get satisfied

She say you don't see why
that you will dog me 'round
spoken: Now, babe, you know you ain't doin' me
right, don'cha
She say you don't see why, ooh
that you will dog me 'round
It must-a be that old evil spirit
so deep down in the ground

You may bury my body
down by the highway side
spoken: Baby, I don't care where you bury my
body when I'm dead and gone
You may bury my body, ooh
down by the highway side
So my old evil spirit
can catch a Greyhound bus and ride

Wonderful Time

Written By: John Lee Williamson

(Instrumental & harp intro)

I know I had a wondeful time last night
At least so they tell me I did
Know I had a wonderful time last night
So high, I couldn't hardly keep it hid
Yes, I got somethin' to tell you, baby you can't do
You can't love me, an some other man, too
'Cause I know I had a wonderful time last night
At least so they tell me I did

I know I had a wonderful time last night
At least so they tell me I did
Know I shouted, 'Hallelujah' last night
I was so high I couldn't keep it hid
I'm going to buy me a dog, gonna wire his nose
How do you kill a man about my jelly roll?
'Cause I know I had a wonderful time last night
At least so they tell me I did

'Alright, Lacey'

(harmonica and instrumental)

[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/wonderful-time-lyrics-sonny-boy-williamson-i.html ]

(background female) 'hallelujah'
(background male) 'have some'

'That's what I'm talkin' 'bout, Lacey'

'Hey now, hey now'

'Do it again, Lacey, do it again'

'Oh man, I know I shouted, 'hallelujah' last night'

I know you had a wonderful time last night
Baby, at least so they tell me you did
I know you had a wonderful time last night
An tell me, you just couldn't keep it hid
Says, there was two old maids a-layin' in the bed
A-one turned over then other one, says;
'I know we had a wonderful time last night
At least so they tell me we did'

I know ya had a wonderful time last night
At least so they tell me you did
Know you shouted, 'Hallelujah', last night
An you just couldn't hardly keep it hid
I got a big fat mama, little skinny mama, too
I don't tell my big fat mama
What my skinny mama can do
I know you had a wonderful time last night
At least so they tell me you did.
