Jumping out of the gate with a cover of Edward Maya’s #1 European hit “Stereo Love” for her first single in Canada may seem like and odd choice for CP Records’ newest pop powerhouse bombshell Mia Martina, but she has been doing things her own way for years and isn’t about to stop now. “I know what I like,” Mia says. “I will listen to other people’s advice, but generally I already have an idea of what I want to do.”

The video for Edward Maya & Mia Martina’s “Stereo Love”, out now on the world’s leading dance label Ultra Records (deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Tiesto) hit over 600,000 YouTube views in under a month, was added to heavy rotation at MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic & MuchVibe, hit Top 5 in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and Holland and is shooting up contemporary hit radio charts across Canada.

Mia recently shot the video for second single “Chasing the Rush” directed by 2010 MMVA nominee, Marc André Debruyne in the Las Vegas desert. The video is set to be released later this year with an upcoming album set for release March 2011.
Born with a natural gift for music, Mia had already begun training her voice while most other 5 year-olds were still trying to get rid of their training wheels. “My mom caught me singing to Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston when I was 3 years old and she was so excited about me being able to sing,” she recalls. “From then on, it was all about getting the proper training.” Taking vocal and piano lessons three times a week throughout her childhood, Mia’s talent excelled and quickly caught the attention of her small New Brunswick town where she won numerous talent show and beauty pageant awards. Performances at weddings, outdoor events, school functions and local churches became the norm throughout her teen years, never wanting to turn down a request to perform for a crowd.

Feeling somewhat like a big fish in a little pond, Mia left home after high school, and enrolled at the University of Ottawa. While a student she continued to practice her own music on the side, and eventually found a job opportunity to work with one of the top Canadian independent labels, CP Records. The label soon realized Mia’s hidden talent and passion for music and gave her the chance to sing the chorus on the Danny Fernandes single “Nonchalant” featuring Belly. After knocking the song out of the park and holding her own alongside radio hitmakers Belly and Danny Fernandes, CP Records recognized enormous potential when they saw it and signed Mia to the label instantly. Soon after Mia got a taste of the big stage, performing “Nonchalant” with Danny Fernandes at festivals such as Z 103’s Summer Rush and knew she wanted more. Now out with her first single at radio and having just shot the video for her second single “Chasing The Rush”, Mia is set and ready to ‘catch’ the rush.
