Bio

Micah Bournes was raised in the hip hop culture of Long Beach, California. Born into a family of 6 children, at a young age he developed a strong sense of community, a seed which later grew into a passion for justice. During college, he began writing and performing music and poetry at open mics around the city of Chicago. He quickly realized his hobby was a gift, as he began to win poetry slams and receive invites to feature at events.

After graduation, he partnered with several non-profits such as "Food for the Hungry," and most significantly "World Relief" (WR, worldrelief.org). WR recognized Micah's ability to approach issues of justice from a fresh, artistic angle. Through poetry, he awakens the consciences of many otherwise unaware or apathetic. This led WR to sponsor Micah's debut full-length poetry album "The Man Without A Name". The project, reflective of Micah's wide range of thoughts, address issues including homelessness, sex trafficking, college alcohol abuse, and much more. The release of the album at WR's annual event "The Justice Conference" (thejusticeconference.com), opened many doors for the artist. He now travels across the U.S. and Canada. Sharing his heart in diverse venues. Form bars to pulpits, colleges, conferences, tea shops and living rooms, Micah drops into any context and is able to connect with anyone who bleeds blood. He continues to partner with WR and other non-profits.
