Sing It Like

Written By: Mica Johnson

I was listenin' to some guy
try to sing 'Sunshine on My Shoulders" like ole John Denver, but he couldn't get the verse right. So I grabbed that mike, I said "you gotta sing it like..."

Like you're sittin' on a lake up in Colorado, with Rocky Mountain river flow, like you're takin' me home down a country road, like I'm mother nature's only son....

Drivin' down the highway, I saw a woman in the fast lane singing Willie Nelson. I gotta say something, she can't get away. So I tell her at the next light "you ain't singin' that right..."

You gotta sing it like you're way down in Mexico. Hidin' out, stayin south till it's safe to roll. Ridin' whiskey rivers on the road with your blue eyes cryin' in the rain.

It's like you're searchin' to never find. Like you don't care what you're leaving behind. I guess singin's for singers, and feelin' for feelers, but every once in a while the two collide.

So when you listen to a good song, you can't get the words wrong. You gotta think about the story, "what they tryin' to tell me?" and I promise before long. It'll sound so right, and it'll feel just like....

Like you're sittin' on a lake up in Colorado, with Rocky Mountain river flow, like you're takin' me home down a country road, like I'm mother nature's only son...
It's gonna sound like you're way down in Mexico. Hidin' out, stayin south till it's safe to roll. Ridin' whiskey rivers on the road with your blue eyes cryin' in the rain......
