Michael Graves, 'Mic G', song writer and emcee.
Born in Melbourne Australia, grew up in Tauranga, currently residing in Auckland City.
He became involved in the local hiphop culture as a young teenager, where graffiti and free-styling in back street town car parks has lead himself to the recording studio where he is chasing his dream.
It has been a slow but sure process for the underground rapper. Joining with 'Connex Crew', an underground hip-hop collective. He had ample recording time with other members of the crew and various features on mix tapes and EP's.
Once branching out on a solo pursuit, Mic G has stuck with his passion and gone from strength to strength.
It was his first online EP release, 'And They Say it Don't Stop', that gave him some recognition and props in a small but thriving underground hip-hop scene in New Zealand.
From this, Mic G has gone on to record a soon-to-be released EP, 'More Than Rap'. Working alongside Mikey Rockwell (The Mic Smith) and fellow Connex Crew member IMAGE.
Mic G is currently gigging in venues around New Zealand to promote 'More Than Rap' and is also working on a small mixtape to drop in the interim.
Some have described Mic G music style as refreshing. With its strong New York influence lyrically and jazz and soul sampled beats. He is bringing us a fresh take on the golden era of hip-hop.
