"Jingle writer rock star"

Normally a musician shies away from shotgunning too many styles, not Michael St. James. He had a Grammy contending Children's album (Giggletins: The Jiggleworm), an acoustic EP (I Ain't Buyin'), a jingle for a furniture company, an electronica track for a car company (2steppin'), an original president's trophy winning song on the Rose Parade (Just a Bug), an arena bumper for Hockey (Red Wings Suck) and was still receiving airplay on his former bands album (SoulThieves- Microphone...) all in the same time frame. He now comes back to pop music full time with his impending release of "Deep in Shangri-La" produced by Duane Lundy. The advance tracks of "Sha La La" and "I'm In" show that he may have hit his stride for his booming soulful voice and honest songwriting. Lyrical landscapes and nice indie textures make it completely interesting listening and one to watch for 2008. - Rooted

"Not your typical Frontman"

"Seeing Michael St. James and hearing him are two totally different things. I thought he was Black for instance. My ridiculous notions aside, he commands the mic, the room and more than a few drunken chicks in front of him. Like others who consider themselves "soulful" he sometimes belts through songs, but knows how to stay on this side of the line of pyrotechnics squarely in the melody region. Another surprise is his guitar playing; usually a frontman is cemented by playing an instrument, St. James seems to relish his moments of playing without singing- which is a feat considering the singing he does. He is a big dude, which is a departure from the heroin chic of the biz. He still rocks long hair and can slam a beer with the best of 'em. Kind of a throwback- his songs are well crafted and the show was a good time. He doesn't look or sound like anyone else out there. Which may be a good thing." Trevor C. - Edge FM

Still working on that hot first release.
