MICHAEL K. BLACKSON
THE AFRICAN KING OF COMEDY
You Modasucka!

He has been called one of the most original stand-up comics in the country, and his performances leave audiences laughing in tears.

Michael Blackson, aka, The African King of Comedy, has been entertaining audiences all across the
country and around the globe for more than a decade. Inspired by the stand up comedy of Eddie Murphy, Michael began to develop his comedic talent in 1992 in the unkind comedy clubs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Michael's comedic appeal grew from his involvement with BET's Comicview series, HBO's Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at Harlem, and Live in Hollywood. However, it was in a Los Angeles comedy club where Michael got his big break.

Michael was performing at the Comedy Store where actor/director Ice Cube was in attendance to see comedian Mike Epps perform.

But after experiencing Michael’s performance, Ice Cube invited the young comic for a reading…and the rest is smash hit history! Michael's outstanding and unforgettable performance in the hit comedy, Next Friday, drew countless praise and a fan following like no other.

After his scene stealing performance in Next Friday, fans wanted more, and in 2005, Michael would not disappoint. He released his top-selling sketch comedy CD entitled, Modasucka, Welcome to America. With Michael, the work never stops.

Along with special guest appearances on some of the hottest music videos, Michael stole the stage on P. Diddy's Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO and starred in a commercial for the Chappelle Show on Comedy Central.

However, life has not always been a laughing matter for the popular African comedian. Michael is a missionary's kid, and as a child, his single-parented family traveled along the west and east coasts of Africa.

His mother would preach, and Michael, along with six other siblings at the time, would sing.

His mother's travels would later bring him to the United States at the age of 13. From Africa to Europe to Newark, New Jersey, what a transition! Michael, a skinny, shy and very smart kid, was consistently teased and bulled at school, with fellow students laughing at his expense. Today,
Michael is the one getting the last laugh.

I decided to use all those jokes they told about me and other Africans and make money. I love America!” exclaims the quick-witted comedian with a wide-eye smile.

There's no mistaking Michael for any other comedian when he takes the stage. And what about those Dashikis? Clad in the finest Dashikis the Motherland has to offer, The African King of Comedy is born! Part of what makes Michael so
appealing is his infectious sense of humor, his ability to make you fall in love and appreciate the foreigner with the thick accent next door or at your local convenient store. His personable humor makes him one of the most sought-after
comedians in the country and around the world. Michael draws adoring fans wherever he goes, from the shopping mall to the airport, everybody loves Michael Blackson, The African King of Comedy.

Michael's hard work is set to pay off this year, as 2007 is on point to becoming a breakout year for the seasoned comedian. Michael is set to star in three films this year, release his first ever much anticipated stand-up DVD and hit the television scene with a show of his own. Along with his film and television endeavors, Michael continues to
entertain fans headlining hundreds of live shows at comedy clubs, universities and special events, bringing his one-of-a kind, must-see stand-up performance to audiences all across the country and around the world.
