Bio

Born and raised in the Appalachian mountains of East Tennessee, Michael Bond grew up listening to Rock and Roll music. Bluegrass entered his life when he and his brother began learning the fiddle and mandolin. Mike spent the next ten years playing mandolin in three different bands with some of the local bluegrass musicians (many of whom have gone on to become true professionals in today’s Bluegrass scene). Members of Ralph Stanley’s Clinch Mountain Boys, and Allison Krauss’ Union Station are two of those stalwarts.

Mike’s music is often referred to as Bluebilly rock and roll. His style is a mixture of the rock and roll he grew up listening to, and the Bluegrass that he fell in love with. He also sprinkles in a little southern Blues. Mike’s soon to be released album entitled “Moonglow Hill” reflects this recipe of Blues, Rock, and Bluegrass. All of which are important elements of the American music scene.

Music threads are stitched into Mike’s family from his Appalachian grandfather who built and played violins (in spite of having one arm), to his son who now plays keyboards and guitar with the national touring act of Chain Gang of 1974.

As a side note, Mike is a luthier. He began building stringed instruments after moving to, and raising his family in Denver, Colorado. He still builds acoustic and electric guitars today. Now, Mike writes and performs his songs on guitars that he has built.
