If there were only one word to describe Mike Brun's musical growth, it would probably be the same word used to describe his songs: unique.
Hailing from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Mike has felt the itch to write and play music as far back as he can remember. At 14, he began attending open mics in his neighborhood, playing his own material (and doing a lot of listening as well). For the last five years, Mike has lived in New Orleans, where he is known more as a musical chameleon. Mike has been involved in a number of musical projects around the city, including singing in an A Cappella group, playing bass for The Revivalists and lending his trumpet skills to Funk.Soul.Family. The influence of New Orleans - old and new forms of jazz, passionate live performance, and understated multiculturality - is quite evident in his musical personality.
Mike has now returned to his own music a much more experienced human being, and is ready to bring this to the stage with thoughtful, heartfelt, and indeed unique songs. Mike is also known have many guest performers at shows, and improvise on various instruments, always keeping his material fresh and his audience interested. Keep your eyes and ears out for this up-and-comer at your local cafes and venues.
