"A Letter From Scotland - Tips for year ahead"

Michael Cassidy
Not to be confused with the one-time star of the O.C., this Paisley native made some waves in 2011 and is certain to crash with conviction on 2012. In a scene when songwriting can sometimes fall by the wayside, it’s refreshing to hear songs as strong as ‘Everybody’s Scared’. Lest we forget, he’s brilliant live. He’s launching his debut e.p. on January 18th with fellow Scottish favourites Beerjacket and Julie & the Doogans in what is sure to be one of the loveliest nights hosted at King Tuts for a while. - Clash

"Danger is Everywhere"

Quite simply I think Michael is one of the most exciting talents I have heard in ages - Peenko

Bio

Michael Cassidy is a singer songwriter, whose take on folk is characterised by his fragile, tender voice and intimate lyrics, buoyed by uplifting choruses, all delivered in his distinctive Paisley brogue from Paisley. Michael sites a great variety of influences ranging from Folk heavyweights such as Richard Thompson and John Martyn to more contemporary acts such as Rufus Wainwright and Radiohead.

Michael has built on his already growing reputation in Scotland as he supported Ben Howard on his Every Kingdom UK tour. He has also recently supported Kimbra on her UK tour as well as support slots with the likes of Josh T Pearson, King Krule, Frightened Rabbit, Amy Macdonald, Admiral Fallow, John Grant & Nathaniel Rateliff for their Glasgow shows.

Michael has recently released his new single "Battleships" and finished recording his debut album with some great musicians such as Aidan O'Rourke (lau) on fiddle, Liam Bradley (Van Morrison) on drums and Calum Malcolm producing the album (The Blue Nile, Simple Minds).

He recently headlined King Tuts in Glasgow where he received great reviews (Sunday Mail "This guy is a star in the making"), and he also played a number of festivals around the country including T in The Park, goNORTH, Wickerman, Boardmasters and Celtic Connections.
As well as being invited to play NXNE festival in Toronto in 2013.
