"Album Review"

"embracing elements of both pop music and the avant-garde with a strong flare for jazz music. . . of the here and now." - Creative Loafing

"Liner Notes"

"Michael Feinberg brings hefty tone and solid time to his own sextet of talented young players on With Many Hands. Amid his compositions' tricky meters and knotty melodies, Feinberg turns in robust walking lines, spiky upright funk grooves, searching solos, and a finger twisting bop-style melody." - Bass Player Magazine

"Concert Review"

"Michael on (electric) bass, laid down a groove that drove the music on, with energetic matching and counter-rhythms. The theme was played between solos from everyone, with lots of shifting dynamics and full-on volume when they were building excitement.
Each player played well in this format, never crowding each other or the music, but playing full out." - International Review of Music

"Michael Feinberg live in LA"

"Like Andre the Giant in The Princess Bride, bass players may not be the main attraction, but ultimately you can't help but notice them, because they are huge and ugly. Albums by bass players give the unsung heroes an opportunity to express their musical opinions. The Elvin Jones Project is Feinberg's third album as a leader, a lot for a bassist, but like Andre's poetry readings, he knows how to convey a meaningful narrative. This 25-year-old is fast approaching giant status in NYC." - LA Weekly

"regard from walter sear"

"Of the many sessions that we have done at Sear Sound over the last 44 years, I found Mr. Feinberg's music to be outstanding. His use of poly rhythms and unique chordal progressions attracted my attention and gave the music an unusual vitality. In this age of mediocrity and paucity of musical ideas, I felt that Mr. Feinberg's music had an impetus rarely heard in my studio."
-Walter Sear - sear sound studios

"Medical Marijuana Benefit Concert"

"For something that felt so loose they came together tightly" - RevMiami

"Evil Genius cd review"

". . .embracing elements of both pop music and the avant-garde with a strong flare for jazz music. . . of the here and now." - Creative Loafing

"Evil Genius cd review"

"Evil Genius, isn't as sinister as its title implies, it is in fact intelligent, articulate and, happily, also inviting...Feinberg also sways his listeners with reliable references, the ethereal vocals that haunt "Wzk June 2007," "Nine to Five" and "Jack Bauer" as well as the faint flamenco feel accorded "Two Left Feat." The sublime closer, "Untitled 1" provides a mellow, melodic send-off, borrowing a theme that recalls "Auld Lang Syne" in its bittersweet sentimentality.
Ultimately Evil Genius proves to be a provocative work, but one that's readily approachable as well. Feinberg deserves kudos for demonstrating a degree of tastefulness and finesse that's exceedingly difficult to come by." - Miami New Times

"Harajuku cd review"

"On this album there are resounding echoes of myriad jazz milestones, as well as tokens from the group's other influences - but the discerning listener will find no counterfeit...The listener is delighted by what happens around each compositional turn, and there is little about the sound that is predictable. The songs create sophisticated tension via decisive rhythmic digressions, tasteful layering, and tidy modulation, avoiding volume-based builds and other genre cliches... As for Feinberg, the principal composer and bandleader, his acumen resembles that of more seasoned musicians and his talent belies his age and experience. His bass walks across the album nimbly, self-assuredly handling disparate moods and modes with aplomb." - Southeast Performer Magazine

"Concert Review"

". . . artful and witty interpretations give the lie to their youth." - Creative Loafing

"regard from Sam Barsh"

". . .your tunes are great and you are very easy to play with, which is the best thing a bassist can be." - Sam Barsh

"Concert Review"

. . . deserves a special salute handling everything from Coltrane to Ellington to rock standards showing musicianship beyond their years." - Atlanta Journal Constitution
