Michael Fredrick

Jeffrey Michael Fredrick Kozak was born and raised in the heart of the continent in Winnipeg, Canada. Since he was a little boy, banging on pots and pans in his mother’s kitchen, he has always had a love for music. Growing up listening to punk rock legends such as Nirvana, Propaghandi, he later started to appreciate the simpler and stripped down sounds of acoustic rock. Artists such as The Tragically Hip and Neil Young started to strike a chord and he was hooked. He has been creating songs and singing his heart out since he got his first guitar when he was 14. Performing for anyone who will listen, his songs are sincere and heartfelt. He has performed at coffee shops, street corners, and around many campfires for everyone and anyone. When deciding to perform, he decided to use his two middle names “Michael Fredrick” as his moniker feeling that music was an escape for him and to separate this aspect of his life from his 9-5 working life. He is planning to release his first full length album independently in the summer of 2010. Songs such as “Vultures” and “Hope For The Best” explore the realms of death and uncertainty respectively with an eerie undertone that draws the listener in. The song “Your Song (A Beautiful Match)” is a sweet ballad to a lover that can’t help but almost bring tears to one’s eyes. With only an acoustic guitar, harmonica, and the stomping of his feet, Michael Fredrick’s stripped down set up brings some originality and a raw feel to music where so many things are digitally enhanced in today’s industry. Hopefully one day people can be united in the tenderness and love that his music brings.
