Michael Higgins

Hi, welcome to my page. I'm a songwriter/lyricist/producer based in Brisbane, Australia. I use this site to showcase my demos and provide information about myself and what I do so feel free to have a look around and listen to my tunes. I write songs with the intention of pitching them to artists, producers, managers, record labels, publishers and anyone else affiliated with the music industry, I'm also interested in writing for advertising, film and television. I have two songs up at the moment, 'Dooms Day' an alternative/hard rock track and 'Dancing Against The Blowing Wind,' a track written for the 'Experimental Witch Project' (Details of this project can be found at the blog section). The lyrics for this song are based on the novel 'The Witch of Portobello' by Paulo Coelho and the main character from the novel, Athena. The song was written as a general theme for the 'Experimental Witch Project'. Vocals for "Dancing Against The Blowing Wind" were performed by Dezi K and all instruments for both songs were performed by me. I recorded and produced both tracks using my home studio setup. I'm into writing for all styles of contemporary music and as I develop my craft I will be adding more and more diverse demos that best represent my tastes, so stay tuned. Between the years of 2000 and 2002 I studied at Southern Cross University, Lismore to earn a Bachelor degree in Contemporary Music. I then relocated to Sydney and after a few years of playing for various bands in the local live scene I realised that songwriting is where my passion lies. I am currently studying Senior Years Music Education at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane and in the future I plan on relocating to Europe to teach and pursue a career in the music industry.
