A Prolific Songwriter, A Unique and Powerful Piano Player, A Developing Arranger: Michael J. Copley

"I can't get that song out of my head!" you may say after listening to Michael J. Copley's catchy tunes. His simple formats, heavy themes, and creative arrangements are his music writing formula and it sure packs some weight!

Calgary based Singer-Songwriter/ Performer Michael J. Copley is always searching for the next song. His eclectic melting pot of musical influences as a young child has developed into his signature style, sure to stick in your head for days. He has found a home in Folk, Pop, and Rock since he first wrote a song six years ago. From Ballads to Rock'n Blues styled Rock'n Roll, this diverse spectrum, added to Copley's signature vocal melodies, is guaranteed to have you intrigued.

Songwriting, his only vocal outlet for his frustrations, has allowed him to explore heavy themes about love, family, religion, triumphs, and trials. Backed by heartfelt and first hand experience, his music is meant to relate to those who have felt the pains and joys of life. Writing music has helped Michael heal and he hopes that he can return the favour to his listeners. A song like "Death of a Loved One", deals with a death of a family friend from cancer. Asking the question, "Will I ever see him again", captures the emotion of the original experience. His songs are guaranteed to make you think, ponder, as well as inspire you. Aside from deep lyrical content, many songs are light in nature with little purpose other than to make you smile and bob your head.

At the age of 20, Michael has twelve years of piano under his belt, two of which earned him a certificate in composition at Selkirk College in Nelson, B.C. Michael is also the 2011 recipient of THE FRED SHERRATT award for outstanding achievements in music and recording arts and sciences. The award was awarded by CARAS and musicounts, affiliates of the JUNO Awards.

Originally being directed into Classical Piano, like his older sisters, Michael refused and began taking lessons in Blues, Rock, Pop, and Country. He performed throughout Calgary's smaller venues. Also heavily involved in Musical Theatre throughout his teenage years(both community and school), Michael received amateur vocal training that helped him discover his voice. He also took private lessons in guitar.

Michael is seriously into recording music and has released several recordings of his original material. You may find his music at www.michaeljcopley.com or YouTube.com/eludethehlight or if you need to inquire or contact Michael J. Copley you may email him at michaeljcopley@gmail.com. He plans to continue writing, performing, and studying his instrument, as well as releasing albums and performing them.

In addition to his weekly releases on YouTube, Michael is releasing his debut album titled "What's In Your Head" in mid 2012.

A prolific Songwriter, a unique and memorable Piano Player, Michael J. Copley is definitely worth checking out in more detail.
