My name is Michael J. Nielsen. Born in Dec '57, I began playing guitar at 15. My first band in 1978, was a three piece group consisting of two guitars & a drummer. Vocals were done by the drummer. Our first jobs were weddings and private party's. Music performed was oldies and country. In 1980, the band was reformed to a five piece country variety group. Most performances were weddings & open clubs such Amvets, Eagles and American Leagon. Music performed was mostly 80's country and oldies. We toured for five & a half years on weekends in the mid west Michigan area. In 1993, I moved to Nashville Tenn. to pursue Music professionally. I began honing my skills as a songwriter and solo performer doing Karaoke & open mike nights. My first contact in Nashville was Ed Russell at Castle records. I was matched up with a Nashville writer, Randell Reeves. Together, we finished two songs I was previously working on. "You Steal My Sleep Away" and "Angelwalk". Angelwalk was the second song to be published by Ed Russell on Alley Road Music BMI. at Castle Records. In 2006, I decided to record the song myself and put it on my debut album Michael J. Nielsen/Horizons, along with "Slow Dancing With A Fast Woman". on my Indie label, Paragon Records. Both songs along with others are published on my company Auburn Lights Music Group BMI. The album is doing well on Inturnet radio and at download sites such as Apple ITunes, ITunes-UK & Napster. The physical album is available at www.cdbaby.com/mjnielsen and Amazon.com. Also at cd baby, is a Promotional DVD, Michael J. Nielsen/One Way Ticket. It contains performance videos, a Video EPK and all my songs with the lyrics. My second album, Michael J. Nielsen/Songs From My Heart, is now in the works. I'm currently writing more & more. I'm working with a band for hire tentavily named Michael J. Nielsen & the Rateings. Two performance videos from the Horizons album are contained on the DVD. In the near future, I hopefully will be performing out locally and around the country.
