Michael Jullian

One of the things that truely defines Michael Jullian is his ability to connect with the audiences that he plays to.

With a style that challenges versatility and drives a need for connection, Jullian is in awe of his audiences.

"The audience is a crucial element in perfomring and I don't mean that in a cliche` sense. I think that music is a language in which we all can make sound, learn to speak and to communicate.
I have a need to say things and perform songs in a certain way.
Sometimes that leaves the audience to translate and to make the song their own. There lies the synergy of music and heart."

Born and raised in Tucson Arizona,
Michael started playing music at an early age and thrived on a vast assortment of influences from classical to jazz, rock & roll, to reggae.
"My grandmother was a big influence on me in addtion to my father who is well cultured. My great Grandfather was a composer for the New York City symphony in the early 30's, and through my grandmother, his tradition was passed down. I am very thankful for that."

"After moving around between Arizona, Colorado
and Southern, Northern California, and pulling a tour of duty in the U.S. Army, Michael moved from Laguna Beach CA to New England playing the local music scene, colleges and coffee houses hoping to make things happen.

Performing shows either as a solo, with band or as an accompanist, Jullian is at home in the delivery of what he calls "the message from the muse."
"Crossing over multiple styles and vibrations of music is what has always inspired me to keep writing and performing. I think cats like Ben Harper, Grant Lee, Kevin So, Neil Finn and Will Dailey have been big influences on me and helped me to see the beauty in crafting songs that can live on any recording."

Jullian has performed feature shows at the lengendary Club Passim on several occaisions and was a featured guest on several interviews during the airing of "Live From Club Passim" which was a frequest broadcast of WERS 88.9 FM at Emerson College in Boston, as well as other radio stations in New England.

Michael has also collaborated with ohter artists such as Kevin So on So's "Individual" as well as performing at the Winter Folk Festival at the Sommerville Theater , Lizard Lounge, and the House Of Blues Cambridge performing backing vocals for some of So's sold out shows.

His style is broad, clear and nestled somewhere between the elements of Roots, Folk, Blues and Pop.

Michael has released his debut CD "Arrival" as well
as a cover project in tribute to some of Michael's influences and heros.

"Arrival"
is a debut cd of 8 songs written, arranged and produced by Michael. The cd is an interactive introspective collection of songs with roots, pop rock and soul tones.

"Cover Me" Vol 1
is a 10 song cover project that that l features tracks from Michael's heros.
Such tracks and artists include:
Dave Mathews, Tom Petty, U2,
Bob Marley, The Beatles, John Lennon
Blind Faith and more!

This project is also arranged, performed, and produced by Michael and neo Records. The volume will be the first in an annual series that will be released starting 2005.

"I've have always wanted to pay tribute to my musical mentors and heros. This project has been a labor of love and I am looking forward to keeping the "Cover Me" tradition alive for a long time.
