My name is Michael Lee,I am originally from East St Louis, Ill., by way of Detroit, Mi. the pass 35 years.My biggest musical influence was Sam Cooke, the best who ever did it.My first recording was with the Soulful Sensations,in 1972. Our song Love, Love, Love, was number 2, in the St Louis, tri-state area,behind only Love on a Two Way Street, which was no. 1.Then tragedy struck, Belgian Conrad, our first tenor and lead singer, contracted cancer, and passed away.We replaced him with Detroit Hodgesand moved on, things were fallingn into place when tragedy struck again, our bas singer and our business manager argued and our bass singer was killed by our business manager, his name was Bobby Waters. I took some time off and decided to move my family and I to Motown and start over.I
My music is a fusion of the motown sound, the sounds of philadelphia, the stax muscle shoals sound,the new york sound of the Drifters, of which I was a member from 1978 to 1983. The Drifters came to detroit in 1978 looking for a replacement for Johnnie Moore, who sung lead on such legendary hits as Under the boardwalk, sand in my shoes, up on the roof,another saturday night, save the last dance for me, and many other smash hits too numerous to name.My holyghost assignment, while I'm here on earth, is to sing and entertain ,and to make people feel good about themselves and about coming to my show.I've been paying dues a long time, and when you do ' one thing', long enough you get to be pretty good at it,and I'am very good, at what I do.I put on a show that you will enjoy listening, dancing, and singing along with, and that's what I call people having fun.
