Bio

Michael Londra, described by critics as “the new voice of Ireland…a voice as pure as a crystalline stream"

Michael began singing as a child in his Irish homeland surrounded by family. After taking a sabbatical in his late 20’s from a tedious career he was encouraged to follow his heart and head for the stage with his lyrical voice.

Word of Michael’s talent spread quickly in his native Ireland and within a very short period of time he was offered the title role in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Following Joseph, he moved easily into roles like Pish Tush in "Hot Mikado", Charlie in "Brigadoon" and Joe in "Some Like It Hot" which received rave reviews in Dublin and got Michael his first acting award at the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera.

After performing the title role in the concert version of "Martin Guerre" at the National Concert Hall, in 1997, he was selected by acclaimed theater director/choreographer Larry Fuller to play Bobby Kennedy in the world premier of “JFK" where the producers of “RIVERDANCE" discovered him.

Recognizing his talent, Michael was quickly offered the role of lead singer in the National Tour for “RIVERDANCE" in the U.S., which included performances at Radio City Music Hall and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. When the new production “Riverdance on Broadway" was headed to The Gershwin Theatre in March 2000, Michael again was offered the position of lead singer taking over for the highly acclaimed Irish singer Brian Kennedy.

“The new voice of Ireland" was quickly embraced by the audiences and the reviews were astounding as Michael was paired with Tony nominees Tsidii La Loka of "The Lion King" and Michel Bell of "Showboat" and chosen to sing solos by the phenomenal Bill Whelan.

Over the years Michael has been invited to perform in "Broadway on Broadway", a concert held in Times Square in front of 50,000 and a TV audience of millions, performing with Broadway legend, Betty Buckley. He was also asked to sing with Heather Headley of "Aida" fame in "First You Dream: A Tribute To Christopher Reeve" in the New Amsterdam Theater on Broadway.

After leaving “Riverdance" Michael turned his attention to recording and pursuing other projects. His first project was a collaboration with his friend and musical director Steve Skinner [co-producer for the Grammy nominated soundtrack of Rent; arranger, co-producer for Bette Midler and Celine Dion and often times collaborator with Arif Mardin, producer for Norah Jones] which resulted in the release of his first CD, MICHAEL LONDRA

Michael is the creator and director of RadioCelt.com part of the AccuRadio network (one of the top ten internet radio stations in the world). While his duties at RacioCelt.com keep him very busy his friends and colleagues encouraged Michael to take his voice and his music back on the road. You will be happy he did.

This evening brings new definition to the musical style of Michael Londra. The lyrical sound of his undeniable Irish Tenor voice delights audiences as his original songs and the world class musicians performing with him give his shows a modern vision of an old and new Ireland.

Audiences gasp with deep emotion as he croons Danny Boy accompanied by the acoustic guitar…they delight in the soulful sound of Do You Think of Me and cry when hearing emotive classics like Glocca given new life.

…with blue eyes, a great voice, and that accent……this guy has got it going on?
