Michael Martins

Michael Martins is one of those artists with a time classic voice. Born and raised in Toronto, but descendent of Portuguese parents Michael has gained over time the influences of music from many different countries. Being from a family that lived in many different places around the world gave him the chance to compile different sounds and textures of music. Michael also comes from a singing family his Grandfather and Father both sung Fado (which is the national music of Portugal only accompanied by guitars).

To tell you a little about Michael he always admired singing and wanted to be one, but had difficulties in doing so because he was born with ear and reseiratory problems. Over main years he struggled with complications, with still a burning passion secretly concealed because he was not able to preform properly. Michael was miraculously cured though from his childhood illness when his family converted to becoming Pentecostal. He later was faced with the battle of dealing with his Grandfathers vocal cancer which is what makes him right know work till he succeeds.
“My Grandfather’s passing on from cancer; especially the fact that he got it for the first time on his vocal cords and he was a singer really hits me with the reality of life! We must all live it to the fullest my Grandfather believe, he also wanted to see himself or his blood line at the top, singing doing what they were meant to be doing. These words he always said and the facts of life are what make me strive for my goal.”

Michael is currently 20 years old, but has been working his craft since the age of 12 when he recoded his first demo. Also, Michael has gone through many years of intense vocal training in such schools as The Canadian Academy of Vocal Music which is founded by Ian Garret which was Shina Twain’s main vocal coach. Michael is an Adult Contemporary singer. He was inspired all his life from music from all over Europe, Brazil, and Africa. Michael’s inspiration comes from his Idol Celine Dion. Many people have compared his potential to Celine as a male counter part. He has also done severally Single Demos and has many hours of studio recording and writing time under his belt. Last, year Michael was also part of the top 100 on Canadian Idol (you can see his GOLD ticket in the photo section). He has also preformed in several major malls in Toronto such: Shearway Gardens (Lung Association) and Center Point Mall. He also frequently performs at his Church (World Revival Church/ Assemblies of God, Toronto). He is also currently waiting on a reply from Germany which is for the opening of the 2006 Fifa World Cup soccer games in which he submitted United in Unison (which is featured in the audio section). Michael also planes and is starting to write and collaborate with producers so in the near future he can releasing his first album…
