* Has given more than 3,700 Canada Is For Kids performances.
* Has produced six CDs: Lest We Forget, Canada Is..., Pub Night, and Canada Is For Kids Volumes 1, 2 & 3 (plus instrumental CD versions of these recordings).
* Has also produced a unique product entitled "Michael Mitchell's O Canada Interactive CDROM which is full of teaching resources for school and home to get kids excited about learning about their country.
* Was nominated for a West Coast Music Award and Indie Award for Canada Is For Kids - Volume 2.
* Has been nominated for an award by the International Songwriting Competition for 2006
* Has donated more than $100,000 to schools across Canada through his product sales rebate program.
* Performed on the soundtrack for the PBS historical special Buried in Ice -- The Franklin Expedition.
* Is a former songwriter and recording artist for Sesame Street and co-host of CTV's Storytime.
* Spent 24 years as an infantry officer with the famous Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada and has also been a military intelligence officer and paratrooper.
* Authored a definitive military history book entitled Ducimus -- The Regiments of the Canadian Infantry.
* Was recognized by the Governor General for outstanding military achievement. Major Michael Mitchell (Ret’d) was invested as an Officer of the Order Military Merit in May 1993. In the Canadian Honours system, this award ranks one level above that of Member of the Order of Canada.
* Earned a black belt in Karate
* Is a qualified sailboat skipper
* Plays golf (badly!) in his spare time
