Biography

Michael Moushon has performed at The House of Blues, Soldier Field and on the C.B.S. network (also composed songs for their underscoring). Moushon is receiving radio airplay as well as performing nationally and internationally in Japan & Canada.

Born in Evanston, IL, adopted and raised by a young couple in Westmont, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, Michael Moushon, singer/songwriter began to realize his love for music at an early age. The son of music lovers, he spent much of his time around the house listening to artists such as The Beach Boys, James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles.

While listening to such greats, Michael was working on his own musical abilities. "I remember playing my father's trombone and the family piano very often at an early age." He continued to learn new instruments one after another, and hasn't stopped yet. Moushon took on the challenge of learning how to play the saxophone, then the drums. Michael remembers, "I used to go home after school and sit in my room listening to AC/DC's "Back in Black" album, from my father's record collection, while banging on a drum set my parents bought for me."

It wasn't until the age of thirteen that Moushon discovered his love for guitar and voice. Just two years later Michael began writing his first songs and developing his skills for the craft of songwriting. Not long after, he started to perform regularly and became known for his musical abilities

In 1997 Moushon left home to study music at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. He then received extensive training in the areas of commercial, jazz and classical voice, as well as guitar, piano and various percussion instruments. In 1999, Michael just nineteen years old left for NYC to study voice with Katie Agresta and work in the recording and engineering industry at Image Recording Studios. Moushon then ventured out to Los Angeles in 2000 to study voice with Gloria Bennett at UCLA and intern for Sugarhill and Vanguard Records.

Moushon's growing desire for writing songs led him to pursue performances of his original material. Michael began playing regularly at various venues around the country. His performances have ranged from bars, colleges and universities, restaurants, resorts, clubs, hotels, parties, charity events and conferences all over the country. Moushon has composed as well as performed his songs for network television and other stations in Illinois.

Moushon admits, "Traveling around the country and abroad has made me want to perform and write music that will in some way speak to and touch the different types of people represented in my audiences."

Moushon moved to Boston in January of 2002, to attend Berklee College of Music to study as a voice principle, and to continue furthering his career in music. Michaels current band consists of players from South America, Asia and Europe.

Moushon performs his original music, a blend of jazz chords, pop melodies in the context of a rock band, at his concerts all over the country and abroad. He feels at home on stage, and puts every part of himself into each performance. In his young career as a singer/songwriter, Michael Moushon is at all times determined and motivated to craft innovative and fresh ways to reach people.

Lyrics

"THE DAY"

Written By: Michael Moushon

She's in a hurry
Wherever she goes
In and out of everywhere so fast
She never takes off her coat

My motivation
Three times a day
There's no better reason
To come to this place
I keep telling myself

Today's gonna be the day

That I figure out a way
Think of something to say
Like
How ya doin my name is mike
Can I get your number
Give you a call later
And maybe we can get together
Sometime

But until then I'm just gonna keep tellin' myself

Today's gonna be the day

She's always got a smile on her face
Like she's telling herself a joke
Or maybe she knows something
Maybe she knows something I don't

My motivation
Three times a day
There's no better reason
To come to this place
I keep telling myself

Today's gonna be the day

That I figure out a way
Think of something to say
Like
How ya doin my name is mike
Can I get your number
Give you a call later
And maybe we can get together
Sometime

But until then I'm just gonna keep tellin' myself

Today's gonna be the day

She dances herself from one place to the next
While all the men fall around her
Into the sidewalks concrete nets

My motivation
Three times a day
There's no better reason
To come to this place
I keep telling myself

Today's gonna be the day

That I figure out a way
Think of something to say
Like
How ya doin my name is mike
Can I get your number
Give you a call later
And maybe we can get together
Tonight

But until then I'm just gonna keep tellin' myself

Today's gonna be the day

"SWEET ANNA"

Written By: Michael Moushon

Their lips move
I hear your voice
My wanders day and night
Distracted all the time

See the way you are
Is not the way I imagined you to be
From the other side of the world
Across the sea
Across the sea
But you are
Sweet anna

Sometimes I think you look in the mirror
Just to make sure you're still there
You see its not the reflection that you're used to
A happy girl

I guess some things are just revealed in the moonlight
And disappear at sunrise
And you know they way we act sometimes
Its not fair
And it aint right
It aint right
It aint right

Sweet anna
Sweet anna
Sweet anna

Its alright and its ok
If were a bit confused
Lying to ourselves just a little
To make it through
And it's alright and its ok
If we don't feel the same
But don't pull away
Don't go away now

Sweet anna
Sweet anna
Sweet anna
Sweet anna
Sweet anna

"JUST TO DO IT AGAIN"

Written By: Michael Moushon

It was tank tops flip flops &
The cheapest beer
Wearin' those shorts your mama told ya
Were too short to wear
Sneakin' out on a sweet summer night
And doin' those things that just weren't lady like

And you're out 'til 4
You're up at 12
You go through a whole day of nothin' waitin'
Just to do it again

Seein' all those friends
Ya haven't seen in almost a year
Playin' spin the bottle
A little of that truth or dare &
Cruisin' around in your
$300 freedom junkers
But at least they were drop tops
So nobody cared

And you're out 'til 4
You're up at 12
You go through a whole day of nothin' waitin'
Just to do it again

It's a world of backyard barbecues
and pickup games
Puttin' pennies on the tracks &
The high school parkin' lot of fame
When every kid on the block's got a corner lemonade stand
The air's broke in your house
So you sit in front of a fan

And you're out 'til 4
You're up at 12
You go through a whole day of nothin' waitin'
Just to do it again

DID YOU HEAR ME SAY GOODBYE

Written By: MICHAEL MOUSHON

I’m so tired
Of all the fights
The whose wrong
And you’re
You’re always right

That thing you do
Rolling your eyes
It drives me crazy
Why can’t we both just say
We’re sorry
I’m sorry and

Did you hear me say goodbye
When I left you in the middle of the night
I went out the back because
I didn’t want you to see me cry (see me cry)
And I wonder sometimes
Did you hear me say goodbye

I watched the frustration slowly fade
As you began to sleep
Safe and sound
In peaceful dreams

I brushed the hair
From your face
And felt your lips with trembling fingertips
I tucked you in tight and
I whispered my last goodnight and

(chorus)

I crept to the door
Carefully across the creaking floor
Made my way down those dark stairs
Like I had so many times before (times before)
Passing memories on the wall
Moments that just would’nt last
I turned around for another look (turned around)
Cause I knew
I knew I’d never come back and

(chorus)

(did you
hear me
Did you hear me say goodbye
say goodbye
did you
hear me say goodbye)

I CAN'T BELIEVE

Written By: MICHAEL MOUSHON

Sorry to bother you again
Always callin' on the phone
I guess i've just never been
One of those people who can be alone

Just somethin' to kill the time
And take me away from those thoughts in my mind

(chorus)

And it's sweet
Sweet relief
I can't believe you're gone
And it's sweet
Sweet release
I can't believe
I'm still callin' you on the phone

(verse)

Its been years since you left
Not a goodbye letter or a call
I was gonna say I was sorry
I swear I was

They told me what had happened
And it's still not real
And I know somewhere you're still listenin'
And someday you'll speak

(chorus)

I keep tellin' myself
I'm not crazy
But my friends all think I'm wrong
And sometimes
I think I can hear you breathin'
Or is i just the static on the phone...

(chorus)

And it's sweet
Sweet relief
I can't believe you're gone
And it's sweet
Sweet release
I can't believe

FIXER OF BROKEN DREAMS

Written By: MICHAEL MOUSHON

He said thank you lord for givin' me
Some of your time
Mama says you're too busy for me
But that just didn't sound right

You see mommys been really sad
And daddys been gone for years
My brothers got the fever
And I'm really scared

I hear your the fixer of broken dreams
And the broken dreams are mine
So if you could put my family back together again
Everything would be alright
Everything would be just fine

She said lord I'm gonna need
Quite a bit of your time
You must of been to busy for us
Cause things here still aren't right

You see I've been angry
Cause my husband passed
But not theses tears
And one of my babies is dying
And the other ones hungry
Cause our cupboards are bare

I hear your the fixer of broken dreams
And the broken dreams are mine
So if you could put my family back together again
Everything
Everything would be alright
Everything everything would be just fine

I hear your the fixer of broken dreams
And the broken dreams are mine
So if you could put my family back together again
Everything would be alright
Everything would be just fine
