"The Maze"

Born and raised in Germany, music has always been a priority in Michael Schulte's life. When he was a young child, he would always be singing and constantly serenading his family with his early vocal skills. After teaching himself to play the guitar when he was 16, he began to cover popular songs and uploaded them to YouTube. Since 2006, the number of fans increased, reaching the millions, and the response was overwhelmingly positive; his cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" gathered over 4.5 million views. Michael's debut album, Wide Awake, was released in 2012, and immediately earned him a No.1 in the Germany Newcomer Charts. Michael has returned with his sophomore album, The Arising, which turned the small stories of his everyday life into brilliant songs. With the new album, the 24 year-old is giving honest music straight from the mind of a mature artist; music that will not only touch you, but grip you, that doesn't just move you, but will send you on a journey. - See more at: http://www.allaccess.com/passport-approved/q/id/1167/michael-schulte/the-maze#sthash.HjvuUDrg.dpuf - allaccess.com

What GFM says...
*Rock & Scissors*
sweet melodic piano with smooth vocals & a memorable chorus. Doesn't seem to go big enough to be a major hit, but its a nice song to hear on the radio
-BoMack
*Frozen Over*
part of the Ed Sheeran-led male singer pop songwriter genre, moves little slow but has real beautiful moments. Hall and Oates inspired retro Chorus is a nice touch. A song you want to hear again and again. This has the makings of a solid radio song.

Bio

He started out with just a few YouTube videos and a guitar tucked under one arm, and he went on to take Germany's stages by storm: 23-year-old Michael Schulte from Flensburg has made a name for himself as a singer-songwriter. The shy-looking man with the red curls, who used to cover other artists' popular singles on YouTube, has turned 2013 into his most successful year to date and won over live audiences great and small with his own original songs.

Michael's most popular cover song so far – “Somebody that I used to know“ by Gotye and Kimbra – earned him more than 4.3 million clicks on YouTube, so it was just a matter of time before established musicians heard of this exciting new talent. In 2011 Rea Garvey discovered Michael's videos, invited him to perform at the music festival surrounding “Kiel Week” and co-wrote the song “Carry me Home” with him, which reached number 8 on the German Single Charts. Michael's first studio album “Wide Awake”, featuring 12 original songs, was released in September 2012 and shot to number 1 on the Media Control Newcomer Charts.

In 2013, Michael presented his album on a solo acoustic tour of Germany and many music festivals, including the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. All in all, he played more than 50 gigs. These helped him develop his skills, both as a musician and as a performer. Michael is a consummate musician, which he proves every time he goes on stage. Whether solo or with a band, whether on his own tour or supporting other acts, he wins over the hearts of the audience time and again. Not without reason were his Hamburg, Berlin and Stuttgart performances sold out after only a short time.

Just in time for the holiday season, Michael released his special album “My Christmas Classics” in November 2013. On this album, besides his own compositions, he recorded twelve Christmas classics in his very own style and with his unique voice.

New projects, many new ideas and a continuing taste for collecting clicks on YouTube propel Michael into 2014. He has never played as much music as he does now, and that won't change any time soon. “We are currently working on my second studio album. I've written a number of new songs, we've collected new ideas, and looked for and finally found the perfect producer. With this producer, we've been recording the new album since September 2013. We have many great songs, a very authentic, but also occasionally surprising sound, and a team of musicians brimming with drive and ideas. You will be able to listen to the whole album from autumn of 2014”, says Michael. It's going to be another amazing year for one of Germany's most exciting newcomers.
