Bio

Incognito Entertainment, LLC was established in January of 2004 by songwriter, musician and record producer, Michael L. Sublett and serves as an entertainment company that provides a wide variety of services ranging from music songwriting to small business development consulting. The company’s primary objective is to provide the highest quality of musical entertainment to consumers throughout the world. While it is a new business venture, the company is mostly involved with providing music related services to its customers; however, in the future, it plans to expand and provide real estate, day care, and philanthropic services for community based organizations, as well as, many additional business services.

The company, which is a limited liability company, is owned and operated by its founder, Michael L. Sublett. Michael L. Sublett was born on June 4, 1977 and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the parents of John Dall and Blanche Marie Sublett in a household filled with musicians and performers.

To explain, his father is a guitarist and quartet singer, his mother a pianist, guitarist and singer and his sister, Alesia R. Sublett is a classically trained vocalist and gospel singer who is currently residing in the Atlanta area. This strong musical upbringing laid the foundation for his desire to pursue a career in the music business. In order to attain his dreams, Michael relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1996 to attend Morris Brown College and graduated at the top of his class in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Business Management.

Michael’s tenure at Morris Brown proved to be a valuable experience because it enabled him to work as a student intern while in college. First he secured an Internship at WAOK Gospel Radio Station under the direction of disc jockey, Marty Williams. Secondly at Stankonia Recording Label which is the label created by the Atlanta-based rap recording artist Outkast. Finally, he interned at So So Def Recording Company (formerly a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment Company) working under the direction of the VP of Business Affairs, Sandra L. Brown, Esq. This opportunity also enabled him to work as a guitarist at various churches throughout the metro Atlanta area. Michael is a multi-faceted musician who is able to play the following instruments: drums, guitar (lead/rhythm/twelve string/classical/acoustic), bass, piano, organ, keyboards, congos and harmonica. To end, he has been playing musical instruments seriously for approximately ten years.

In 2003, with the tragic and untimely death of his uncle, Spelmon Steverson and upon inheriting his musical equipment from his aunt- Burnette Steverson, Michael decided that it was time to take his musical career to the next level. He credits his song writing inspirations to the following sources: listening to other songs, watching the news or watching someone else go through a particular situation. “Sometimes, I’ll be driving to work and a melody or chorus pops into my head and I have to pull over on the side of the road and either write the idea down or sing the melody into my digital voice recorder”, Michael says, in regards to his creative songwriting influences. In order to promote his musical works to prospective clients, Michael established Behind the Scenes Music Publishing (ASCAP) in December of 2003.

Although he considers his songwriting styles to be that of R&B songwriters, Michael works hard at not being limited to that genre of music. “If it is one thing that I’ve learned from watching artists, like Prince, the Isley Brother’s, and Aretha Franklin who have all maintained longevity in the music business, is that you have to broaden your musical scopes and stay abreast of what’s happening in the music scene”, says Michael. In order to obtain and maintain success in the ever-changing field of music, Michael understands the necessity of being knowledgeable about all musical styles and being able to create music that fits the ever-changing needs of multiple music markets. In a music age that is dominated by sampling and one-chord songs, Michael Sublett intends to bring back the sound typified by the highly orchestrated and intensified bands popularized in the 70’s and 80’s. “I don’t want to just ride the current musical trends and patterns to success, but I also want to create new trends in the music scene”, says Michael.

At the present time, Michael is working rigorously at writing news songs and promoting them through his publishing firm, Behind the Scenes Publishing (ASCAP). He currently has songs completed that are intended for the following artists, Ronald Isley and the Isley Brothers, Buddy Guy, Bobby Bland, India Arie and R. Kelly, just to name a few. With the amount of hard work, dedication and time that he is exerting, the sky is the limit for Incognito Entertainment, LLC and the world has yet to see what it has to offer.
