Michele Crockett

BandAmericana

Michele Crockett's music is rooted in stone-simple country traditions -- but it swings, too. From grungy-drunk waltzes to sweet country-swing lullabies, Crockett's songs have a familiar appeal but spin everyday encounters into turning points.

Biography

The daughter of a western Kansas truck driver, Michele Crockett grew up listening to "real" country music. Her own music always starts with (in Harlan Howard's words) "three chords and the truth" -- but she mixes in bluegrass, swing, rock, and blues. Her goal is to put the listener in a particular place: Spending your paycheck at the local bar that's your home away from home on a Friday night. Driving on a blue highway in the cold morning light with someone who no longer loves you. Remembering your sainted granny, who happened to be a moonshiner. Crockett's songs portray the wistful attempts of everyday folks to make everyday things matter.

Blizzard of Kisses

Written By: Michele Crockett

Close the window shut that door
Can’t you see the shadows rolling across the floor?
Sit right here, where’ve you been
Don’t you know a storm is movin’ in?

Settle down, cuddle up
Lay your head right here and let me fill your cup
We’ve got all night here by the firelight so
Bring on that blizzard of kisses

Hear the wind, hear it blow
You can feel it in the air
It’s bound to snow

Bring it on, we don’t care
We can brave the elements
Settled in our easy chair
We’ve got all night here by the firelight so
Bring on that blizzard of kisses

Hear the wind, hear it blow
You can feel it in the air
It’s bound to snow

Let it ring, we’re not home
We’re busy making connections of our own
We’ve got all night here by the firelight so
Bring on that blizzard of kisses

Jet Lag Lounge

Written By: Michele Crockett

You’ve been up at dawn every morning now six days straight
Swinging that hammer with the boys down at Harvard Estates
They’re puttin’ five-piece bathrooms in and a central vac
And it’s a damn far cry from your trailer out across the tracks

Just forget about it honey hurry in to your place at the bar
We got your Tombstone waitin’ and an ice-cold PBR
The jukebox is crankin’ out your favorite song B54
Now the Race Is On and the pretty girls are comin’ in the door

Elbow to elbow …. Longnecks in hand
The Friday night right of the workin’ man
There ain’t another place in this whole damn town
Gonna make you fly right like the Jet Lag Lounge

Now the Jet Lag Lounge keeps its lights down nice and low
So you can ease the pain of that back-breakin’ rodeo
There’s poker in the back just look for the neon light
And the dance floor’s tiny so you gotta squeeze in real tight
