Bio

Powerful, passionate, and feminine; these three words encompass the artist known as Michele Thibeaux. Born and raised in Oakland, California, she began singing at a young age in the Oakland Children’s Choir. This desire to sing followed her into high school and at the illustrious Fisk University where she added choreographer to her list of talents and performed in the Black Mass Choir. She further expanded her artistic skills in musicals such as, “St. Louis Woman”, among others.

Mrs. Thibeaux’s influences include but are not limited to Earth, Wind, Fire, Journey, Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, Brand Nubian, A Tribe Called Quest, Manhattan Transfer, and Amel Larrieux. Her fans appreciate her ability to effortlessly mix soul, jazz, hip hop, and experimental genres. A lover of hip hop, Mrs. Thibeaux was introduced to the genre through her brother’s turntables and eclectic record collection. However, she attributes her love of music not only to him but her parents and own natural curiosity.

An accomplished artist, Mrs. Thibeaux featured on Scarface’s “My Homies” compilation as well as Ali Shaheed Muhammed’s “Shaheedullah and Stereotypes”. A sought after collaborator on both local and national hip-hop projects, she has worked with DJ Cipher, Example, Ragtag, K-Otix, Kuumba Freeque, Zin, DJ Melodic, Hisson, Joe B of the Rebel Crew, H.I.S.D, Flow Factory, Lower Life Form, The Foundation ( K, Chris Dave, Wayne Perry, E. Marlon, Liz Vaughn), Zoe, Jneiro, Jah-born, and many more. As a performer, Mrs. Thibeaux has had the pleasure of opening for Randy Weston and Roy Ayers.

In addition to being a vocalist and dancer, Mrs. Thibeaux is a soul-stirring songwriter that has composed songs for herself as well as Caretta Bell’s debut, “Love’s Eye View”. She also co -wrote the theme song for “Electric Purgatory” a black rock documentary following the careers of Fishbone, Living color, and others.
