"There is a lot of talent in NYC"

"Then there was a female who I have just mentioned a few lines up, Michelle Barone. Michelle is a very cool female. She has these big, sexy, sleepy eyes that men seemed to be very attracted to. She is a white girl but she has a very strong voice that real R&B lovers can enjoy and appreciate. She performed a song called, "Daddy Don't Go", which literally brought chills to my spine. I think she really is going to blow up.
She reminds me of a mature version of J Records star, Emily King, for some reason. I told her that I would play her song on Talk Dat Ish Radio and that is what I plan on doing. She said it was her first time doing an open mic and she really did a good job. You can check her out on www.myspace.com/michellebaronesmusic."

ARTIST: Michelle Barone
ALBUM: "Believe in Me"

Most regional CDs that come across my desk are roots music, Americana and the like. This release by Poughkeepsie's Michelle Barone is out-and-out commercial pop and R&B.

And it's not bad.

Barone has been making the rounds at local venues (including The Chance in Poughkeepsie) signed with a management company, and has a strong debut release.

With "Believe In Me," Barone steps up to the plate as singer, songwriter and co-producer (Along with Billy Bad-Ass.) You can just hear the "Not Gonna Get It" bouncing of the walls of a giant dance floor teaming with swirling, spinning bodies. Barone has huge, flexible and powerful pipes. She sings on top of a big wall of sound- think Britney Spears if she could actually sing. And as opposed to Spears and her peers, Barone wrote the lyrics here (making her a different level of artist) and I'll bet money she wouldn't have to lip sync live either.

"Break It Off" has an urgent sound. The coming-of-age ode "Daddy Don't Go" follows. And she sings the pants off in "Feel Me." "Broke Is My Heart" is lush, followed by a range of emotions, from the yearning "Burnin'" to the sassy "So Naughty," the catchy "Cold Stare" to the inspirational "Believe In Me."

Barone has her own take on modern pop, relationships and life, and that's a step above the rest.

"Michelle Barone- Believe In Me"

Michelle Barone successfully blended elements of R&B, pop and rap to create a disc that’s beaming with crossover potential. In my first listen of her CD, I was most impressed by Michelle’s voice.

Every note is delivered with passion and precision. There’s no over-singing which is so common in this genre, as Michelle never wastes a note. As I went deeper into the disc I realized that Michelle is quite a lyricist too. The words to her song “Daddy Don’t Go” didn’t leave a dry eye in the room when I played it for a few friends.

Other notable tracks include “Feel Me” and “Broke Is My Heart.” The title track, “Believe In Me” is another winner. For fans of Christina Aguilera, Jill Scottt and Alicia Keys, Michelle’s CD will fill your ears with an eclectic batch of songs that will have you smiling, crying, foot-tapping and dancing all night long.

ABOUT ME:

I began singing when I was a child, about six years old. It was simply something I enjoyed doing. I began to sing everywhere I went. Throughout high school I was in plays, drama, and local theater. I then went to Marist College for marketing. I eventually graduated from Marist in 2006 and realized that singing was my destiny. After college ended, I decided to put together an album called "Believe In Me, " and since then I have been recording, performing, and coming up with new ideas for my music. I have recently opened for NE-YO and have also have had an album release party where over 700 people attended. The local radio stations as well as college radio have been very receptive to my music. I was able to get my music in Barnes and Noble, on itunes, at various Price Choppers, and on major top 40 radio stations. I plan reaching my goal of getting signed to a Major Label!
My influences aren't so much other artist but are the things that have happened in my life. My music is reality based. I really feel the songs that I write. I'd say that people such as Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, and Nelly Furtado are my biggest influences in the Pop world. They are creative and innovative and that is how I tend to be. I like to write about things that people can relate to yet in a creative way that separates me from the rest. I think what separates me is my voice. It has an original sound with soul yet it is extreemly versatile. I also have a complete stage show filled with lots energy. It includes dancers, props, back-up singers, and two dj's battleing eachother. I can do anything from using a simple back track and singing alone to a stage full of amazing artists. There is one song in particular that is the most meaningful to me, it is called "Daddy Don't Go." It is a true life story. My Father passed away when I was 18 about 5 years ago. This track is truely my heart thrown into a song. This song is not made to get sympathy but made to teach people to respect life and to relate to the people who have lost loved ones. Almost everyone has lost someone close to them and I feel that this was a little piece of my life that I needed to share with the world.
