Bio

Music was always a huge part of Michelle Blanchard’s life whilst growing up in Whitter, CA . After relocating to Las Vegas, Michelle’s dream started to come together. She started out playing bass in cover bands before forming a band with some school friends and switching to lead guitar.
At the age of 16 and after 4 years of writing and performing with her friends, Michelle decided to take things to the next level. Committing to home schooling, and starting to co-write with her older sister Karen, Michelle not only became the lead guitarist but also key songwriter and lead singer of her new band – The Michelle Blanchard Band.
The sisters creative kinship has lead to more than 25 songs already with 6 appearing on the debut EP now being recorded in Los Angeles. Teaming with Sanctum sound producers Leo Mellace and Steve Catizone (Godsmack, Wycleff Jean and Carmit Bachar from PCD) Michelle is able to draw on both her rock guitar roots as well as some more pop leaning influences.
Also included on the EP is a rock remake of Usher’s smash hit ‘Love In This Club’ which reached #1 on the Billboard Top 100 and sent the album Here I Stand platinum.
While eager and open to experiment in various musical genres, Michelle’s guitar and rock roots are never far from the surface. Crediting bands like Paramore and musicians like Melissa Etheridge and Slash as major musical influences, Michelle made a personal connection with Slash at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Vegas in early 2007. An avid guitar collector, Michelle has over 13 guitars already and sites her custom purple Roman of Ed Roman guitars as her favorite.
Mature beyond her years, Michelle is an admirer of the work that ‘To Write Love On Her Arms’ does in communities around the country. TWLOHA (www.twloha.com) is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. This is a cause that Michelle feels strongly about and will help spread the word about during her upcoming live shows.
