BandJazzChristian

My music is infused with the many different spices of life. It is a fusion of jazz and soul with hints of well many different influences. I like to create music that inspires and that can be a part of the mosaic of music which composes the soundtrack of many lives.

Biography

There is a lot to Michelle Dussard I am a singer, a songwriter, musical arranger, musical engineer and producer. I play other instruments including guitar and bass and I will be learning a lot more come September... but above all I am a keyboard player. I started playing the piano at the age of 5 and quite frankly I'll never stop. Actually I hope that I can create music for an eternity... a really really really long time. I studied classical music and I am currently a student at the University of Toronto (OISE) music education/ classical piano performance program. I have been composing since the age of 8. I have three albums to date The Looking Glass Station, Alive! and Interpretations. I've played with a number of bands including the Skyjumpers and the group formerly known as the Changes...I have recently enjoyed producing the albums Alive! and Interpretations...which will be officially released in July. I've had a lot of crazy events which has shaped my perspective for my new album Alive! Almost dying and being hospitalized and learning how to walk three more times does that to you. I realized that although I'm not the best runner at this stage of the game I have something that I hope can make your world just a little bit better than before....I think we all have that something and that's the cool thing about life figuring out what that is, and using it. I want to be a part of the positive soundtrack of your lives that says that everything is possible, that we are here to help one another and well buy the album for the rest of what I have to say...which will be available soon. Music is my oxygen, and I hope everyone finds theirs. It would be a much better planet if we all did! God Bless You All!

Influences
My influences vary quite a bit. I love listening to different piano players like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. In terms of vocal styles I really appreciate the story tellers like Bob Marley, Carol King and James Taylor. I've been told that I sound a lot like Sade whom I do adore. Most of my influences derive from either Motown, Jazz or Classical music.

Discography

I've done three albums Independently.
The Looking Glass Station (2005)
Interpretations (2007)
Alive! (2007)

Set List

I like to do a lot of original songs. I might throw in an occasional instrumental cover if the audience wants it.
I can have two sets which are about forty five minutes each with a bit of a break in between. They vary for each show. If I do covers they are usually different jazz standards like summertime or God Bless the Child. I will sing and play most standards. Or I do a good cover of Angels by Sarah McLaughlin that is instrumental.
