Bio
Michelle Francis has studied jazz performance and music production at the most esteemed institutions in Canada. With an Honours degree in Jazz Studies, a degree in Education, and a diploma in Recorded Music Production, she has polished her talents and evolved her artistry as a singer, songwriter, music educator and vocal arranger.
With a passion for music, she has study under the direction of jazz innovator Phil Nimmons, jazz recording artist Carol Welsman, and the late Classical Singer Joyce Britton. Her gift for vocal arranging has given her the opportunity to write music for Juno award winning gospel choir Sharon Riley and the Faith Chorale. Her love for the Lord has brought her to the ministry of Praise and Worship.
Her music has been captured on the recordings of international gospel artists and film and television. Her voice has been featured in commercial jingles and voice over work.
Michelle continues to offer her musical leadership as a mentor in the arts community. She has lent her skills to aspiring young artists through arts organizations such as Fresh Arts and Phem Phat Productions. Her work as a music educator has been an invaluable contribution in school classrooms and community programs inspiring others with the gift of music. As a teacher with the Board of Education, Michelle is consistently looking at new and innovative ways to develop and nurture young minds through music.
Because of her work and affiliations with the top gospel music acts and organizations in Toronto, she has used her influences as an opportunity to showcase a burgeoning musical genre in North American -Gospel Music.
Michelle will captivate and embrace you. She will surely leave an impression in your mind and in your heart. Her warm sophisticated sound presented with an affirmation of love, spirituality, and life will leave any audience renewed, encouraged and most certainly uplifted.
