Michelle McKibbon worked on the business side of music at both Universal Music and Sony Music, but was always honing her skills as a songwriter. It was after years of juggling both that she realized she had all the information she needed to further her own songwriting career.
In 2006, she founded Just Press Play, a group of musicians who write, play, and produce music with an emphasis on placement in TV, movies, and advertising as well as for other performers to record. Michelle immediately placed a co-write on Kirsten Jones’ debut Drive-In Movie (Fontana North/Universal), and has since worked with engineer Richard Benoit (Amy Sky, Marc Jordan, Aimee Mann), producer Mitch Girio, and singer/songwriter Pete Lesperance.
Looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow music business survivor Kara DioGuardi, Michelle creates fresh, original music in a variety of genres, specializing in Hot AC and Pop. She guarantees quick and effortless music clearance for tight deadlines, and she offers a unique combination of musical ability and common sense business chops.
Michelle is a graduate of Humber College’s prestigious Jazz program, and performed with their acclaimed eight piece Vocal Jazz Ensemble. No stranger to the Toronto music scene, she has been a member of numerous groups spanning Jazz, Rock and Pop genres and has even performed with Children’s entertainer Fred Penner at the Sony Centre.
