MICK – MUSIC IS CRUCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Music has long been an integrated part of peoples lives. It is defined as an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and colour. It is a universal language, yet still unique to each individual.

MICK incorporates these ideas in their music, as to MICK music is a celebration of life.

MICK believes that to find happiness you should follow your dreams, as true happiness can be found in doing that which you want the most. Mistakes are bound to be made along the way, yet they should not be called mistakes, if you are willing to learn from them. Every action has an equal reaction and forms the path ahead. Fulfilment can be found in each and every step.

The music that MICK creates portrays the daily processes in life. The low’s and the high’s reinforce each other, as neither can be experienced without the other. There is no light without darkness and both are needed to bring colour into our lives.

Combining lyrics with depth and rhythms with emotion, defines the language in which MICK communicates.

Life is short, so we should enjoy every minute of it!

The story of MICK so far

Despite their different backgrounds it was their love of meaningful music that united the five young dogs from the shores of Holland to MICK

MICK made their debut at The Hague’s most popular beach festival in the summer of 2005 joined in the line up by some of Holland’s greatest artists. The band continued to write songs for their debut album and gigs in various pop temples and festivals in the country’s Rock capitol brought promising reviews. The holiday spirit drew closer and MICK decided to create their own tradition. The first X-MICK party on Christmas Eve saw a sold out venue and band impeccably dressed for the occasion indulge in music and Champagne. With a DJ to keep the party going into the early hours of the morning and the presentation of the first demo (4 songs) it was a night to remember .

The year 2006 saw a change in line up when Tim Lawson replacement replaced the former guitarist. The band finally felt right! The following month was spent rehearsing before the band was ready to hit the road again. Local radio stations were quick to pick up on the band, giving the demo regular airplay. Interviews were done with local pop journalists and MICK had various radio shows. Still the band looked to move out of the region. Queensday 2006 saw MICK play in Amsterdam in front of 15000 people dressed in orange to honour the Queens birthday. The students of the North saw to it that MICK travelled the length of the country in order to play at various student unions in Groningen. Bookers in the region were impressed, which resulted in a number of festivals and saw MICK join line ups with famous Dutch artists such as Kane and Racoon yet again.

MICK’s myspace profile, which was launched at the beginning of 2006 has more than 4.000 fans and the demo songs have been played over 11.000 times. Dutch artist sites are very well visited, MICK has even attained a number 1 place in the artist list on CU2, a position that the band has maintained for months.

In promotion of the X-MICK party as well as the XXL party MICK released their own version of the well known Christmas song Santa Baby via legaldownload.net. The stakes are high for 2007 as the band is ready to launch it’s first single City Lights.
