Bio

Micka plays and writes in a context for both solo performance to bigger bands, drawing from styles that take in everything from dance/pop, rock to world, reggae and hip hop, with a splash of sea shanty!
Big Beat Rock Roots Music.
Micka is the co-founder, lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for Melbourne based touring band, Symbiosis. He has toured extensively around Australia with Symbiosis, and has had many awesome experiences with that band, from supporting national tours with major Australian Acts such as The Cat Empire, Hoodoo Gurus, and the Resin Dogs, playing major Australian music festivals, headlining numerous national tours and major venues (The Prince of Wales, Corner Hotel and The Zoo...), playing for Al Gore and his Climate Change delegates at the Victorian State Library, to rocking large and small scale benefit gigs (Make Poverty History, Fair Trade Festival and Black GST...). His original songs with Symbiosis have had extensive radio play on local and national broadcast stations such as Triple J, ABC 774 and Radio National, PBS FM, RRR FM, 4ZZZ FM, along with recent commercial highlights including having the song 'Rise Up' chosen as a ‘Hit Pick’ on Australia’s Hottest 100 countdown, with over 200 commercial stations around the country playing the song. This also involved the band, performing and recording three songs ‘unplugged’ in the MCM studios to mic and camera for the Hottest 100 website.
Micka’s music has also appeared on many Australian television programs including 3 songs on hit crime series Underbelly, along with Bondi Rescue among others, surf/skate/snow DVD's and the Symbiosis track Wishing Well used to create the final song ‘$5 steak’ on Bliss N Eso’s Aria Award winning 2008 album Flying Colours.
2009 looks to be a huge year for Micka, with more focus as a solo artist, and his forthcoming debut recordings set for release later in the year. A 5 week solo tour of Japan in late January is already taking shape, with dates and venues soon to be announced. Catch Micka Etheridge somewhere sassooon!
