Bio

Mike Mess has been making music for the past decade. It started for him in his local high school, where he and a group of friends would freestyle in the hallways during lunch breaks and in between classes. Mess believes that persistence is what separates a hobby from a career. “I have been through so many up’s and down’s,” he explains, “however, I still feel very confident in my chances of being successful in this industry.”

At the young age of 15, Mike experienced the loss of his aunt to a homicide. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her death. Being so young, it was difficult for Mike to understand and express his emotions about the recent loss, yet he found he was able to paint mental pictures of his feeling through the multiple songs he created in her memory.

When he was 17, Mike became a father to a beautiful baby girl and was forced to find ways of supporting her. “I had a couple of very good positions making over $50, 000 a year, but I wasn’t happy.” After a messy break up with his daughter’s mother, it took some time for him to bounce back financially and, more so, emotionally.

During the summer of 2005, Mike and his friend Jean Mathurin partnered up to form a company called Next In Line Entertainment (NILE). Together, they began working with DJ NIL and booking performances while networking with other talented local artists. “This was a great experience for me because it gave me the opportunity to see the [music] business from a business point of view,” says Mike.

In the months to follow, many doors were opened for Mike to perform. He was able to share the stage with fellow musician, Grafh, and with many other talented artists from the DC., MD., and VA. area.

“I’m ready to make my move and link up with people who believe in my product and believe in me,” he says of his ambitions. “I think there’s a lot of money to be made and, most importantly, I have a strong message to deliver to people around the world.”

Listeners enjoy the vivid pictures Mess paints with his lyrics and his original rhythmic style. Passion is an apparent element in each of his songs and in the seemingly endless improvised freestyle verses he delivers without hesitation. There is no doubt Mike Mess brings a lot of creativity to the table.

Mike has made many sacrifices in his life and plans to continue sacrificing until he accomplishes what he feels is his destiny: the opportunity to be heard. The young man has already established a huge support system including his family, friends, and of course all of the fans that have helped to shape his dream into a reality.

We are confident you’ll enjoy the music of this talented young artist and we’d like to thank you for all of your support.
