Mid-American is an indie folk-rock 7 piece based out of Carmel, IN made up of members Phil Johnson (vocals, guitar), Dan Varnau (bass, vocals), Alex Pantos (guitar, vocals), Austin Gardner (drums, aux percussion), Tyler Varnau (aux percussion), Chris Deporter (drums, aux percussion), and Parker James (aux percussion, keys). The big roster is only matched by the band's big sound. Pulling influence from bands such as Fleet Foxes, Local Natives, Foals, and Grizzly Bear; Mid-American develops its songs into deep, detail-oriented narratives with a pension for driving percussion and bold harmonies.
Where the band's true strength lies is its live show. Driven to milk every song for its emotional worth, the band showcases a passion for their performance that makes for exciting and memorable shows- leading to their being dubbed the "Mars Volta of Indie Rock."
