Bio

Born Philippe Bonhomme, Midas grew up surrounded by music. At age 3 he used to observe his older siblings taking piano lessons, and their teacher was surprised at how much interest and focus he had. At age 4 Philippe picked up the piano, and amazed his family members when he surpassed his older siblings. It was at this point his family knew that music was his forte. At age 12 Philippe began to learn the Saxophone along side the Piano, and this is where the intensive education of musical knowledge began. From age 12 until his late teen years Philippe was mentored by 3 music professors who specialized in: music composition, arrangement, expression, performance, ear training, accompaniment, musical history, and technical proficiency. This enabled him to develop an appreciation for all music genres, and gave him the ability to "listen deep inside of songs" to identify their defining elements.

Philippe was pleasantly surprised when he began to understand the music on a different level than his peers. He always loved hearing music produced by Timbaland, Dr. Dre, and The Neptunes growing up and was pulled into it even more when he understood what they were doing musically. One day on the way to school, a song came on the radio that changed his life. It was a Timbaland Produced beat for a song called Phat Rabbit, by Ludacris. After hearing that song Philippe saw the production aspect of Hip Hop music in a new light.

One day in his High school band room Philippe was playing a new Digital piano they had received. It was a 4 track recordable so he put together a melody with chords behind it and some elements mixed in. He didn't know it just yet, but that was the first beat he ever produced. As students entered the room the music was still playing, and all of a sudden someone started beat boxing to it, then a few people started freestyling. This drew a crowd and people began to ask who made the music and how it was made. People were going crazy over the instrumental.

After that day Philippe began to produce daily, weather it was on that Digital Piano he made his very first beat on- or a friend's computer software. People started calling him MIDAS because it seemed that every time he sat down to make a beat the outcome would be "Golden."

Midas linked up with Sluggerz Entertainment and progressed even more. As the camp's sole producer he provides artists with high quality beats tailored to highlight their individual talents. As part of his accomplishments, Midas has also participated in numerous Beat Battles and Production competitions around the Maryland/DC area and taken 1st place in many of the events. Midas has showcased his music for events such as The Baltimore College Hip Hop Week, and many weekly freestyle events to name a few. His latest achievement includes Making the Next Hit with Lil Wayne, where he was voted as the best producer.
