Band Biography:
Midas originally came together through the Infinity Performing Arts Program. They have played together for six years, and been involved in many local and community events. Now independent of the Infinity Program, they are looking to broaden their areas of playing. The band has played many venues over the past six years. These venues include, but are not limited to, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Jamestown's Local Music Showcase, Buffalo's Italian Festival, The Great Blue Heron Music Festival,The Reg Lenna Civic Center in Jamestown, and The Floating Stage in Bemus Point NY. Midas has opened for the 10,000 Maniacs twice, once on the Floating Stage in Bemus, and once at the Reg Lenna Civic Center for their 25th Anniversary Concert. They also opened the weekend for the Great Blue Heron Music Festival in 2007. Midas has competed in the Memphis Bound Blues Competition in Buffalo NY for two years in a row. Locally, they have won awards for "Best Cover Band" and "Best Blues Band" in the Chautauqua County Music Awards. They can be classified as a Bluesy/Jam Band with influences including The Allman Brothers, The Derek Trucks Band, Derek and the Dominoes, Susan Tedeschi, and Soulive. Although playing mainly covers right now, the band has developed their own musical style, applying it toward the covers, as well as the creation of their own music, with much more to come.
