Midnight in a Perfect World

Midnight in a Perfect World

BandAlternativeRock

Midnight in Perfect World takes the song structures of post-hardcore and drops the repetitive syncopation of overused chords for the warmth of octave-laden hooks. Midnight's classic sound pays homage to Rival Schools and Fugazi while holding it's own with contemporaries like Thrice and Thursday.

Biography

Singer/songwriter Sean Cass and Phil Pristia met while working on a music project at Chico State University. They soon enlisted Dennis Rodriguez on drums and upon graduation made their way to San Francisco to find bassist Fran Dickinson through a craigslist ad.

They hooked up with Jerry Becker (who produced Rob Hotchkiss of Train) to record and produce their self-titled LP. Using a strong collaborative effort, every new song over the last year has grown out of an idea being taken somewhere different by another band member. Each person had the chance to morph it into the final version.

Straying from the hyped PR of drug abuse and band implosions, Midnight... kick out the jams by remaining everyday people committed to each song. Their drive to push themselves and each other is clearly seen by each audience who craves to hear more.

Lyrics

Only Natural

Written By: Sean Cass

I’m in love with a girl from Mexico
She’s in love with me It’s quite incredible

How I know, I can see it in her eyes
Hold her close to my skin, it’s only natural

To have love in this life,
Such a splendor,
Don’t have a heart attack now
Falling into your grace
It’s quite predictable
I don’t know where to begin, it’s only natural

To be comfortable in your skin
That’s the ultimate goal
On your own trying to make sense of this place
Discovering yourself, it’s quite incredible

To have faith there’s confidence inside yourself
It’s all under your skin, it’s only natural

To have love in this life,
Such a splendor,
Don’t have a heart attack now
Falling into your grace
It’s quite predictable
This is where we begin, it’s only natural

Yeah to have love in this life,
Such a splendor,
Don’t have a heart attack
Now I ‘m feeling like I’m living
Holding on to this feel, it’s only natural
The key is under your skin, it’s quite incredible

Realize

Written By: Sean Cass

Do you want to know why I left you?
I had to go cuz I needed some time to be on my own needed more time to define myself

In this time of reflection
I have found that life has just begun to make sense, I was on the fence, but it all seems much clearer now.
Can’t wait to spend some time with you, talk to you about the things that I have found
Break it down so you will understand

We got a lot to talk about
There’s no doubt inside of my mind
You are the one, and I have just begun to
Realize the love I have inside of me is all for you

You are not alone
You are not alone
Cause I realize
Yeah I realize

Open

Written By: Sean Cass

Desperate, desolate, how I feel in this moment
Send me love show me grace
I need a reason so I can celebrate

I hope you’re listening
See my pain, down the drain
I don’t want this to happen again, no

Open your heart to me
I’m singing this ‘cause it’s meant to be
For you, oh yeah, for you

Bleak barren blistered and bruised
Motherfucker, I’m feeling used
Hear me out, let me in
I need something new to begin
I know you’re listening
See my pain, please explain
I don’t want this to happen again, no

Open your heart to me
I’m singing this ‘cause it’s meant to be
For you, oh yeah, for you

I’m singing this out loud for you
Are you ready, are you willing, to be free

Open your heart to me
Open your heart to me,
