"Midnight in a Perfect World - CD review"

"The raw, untamed wanderings of lead guitarist Phil Pristia bring back memories of the glory days of Seattle grunge, with Nirvana cranking out pure energy and Alice In Chains testing the waters by dragging the listener into the band’s hole of depression. "

"... the song [Maybe I’ll Stay (To Find Love)] starts off strong and continues with one quick hook after another. At over five minutes (the longest track on the album), the band makes room on the track for a nicely placed bridge, dropping levels down to near silence midway through before bringing the tempo back up."

"It is impressive how well this band stays true to its passion of instrumentation though, and the sensitivity of its members to not be overbearing or outplay one another deserves credit as well."

-Marcelina Blea

"RipStar Press Release"

“Locally one of the most talked about acts on the scene… their music escapes fixed labels and makes them appealing to listeners from across the spectrum.”  - Robert Jackson of RipStar - RipStar

"3.5 'Owls' rating for Debut CD"

On their self-titled LP, Midnight in a Perfect World leaves a trail of blood from a broken heart. The collection of lovesick songs are presented with a dichotomy of styles melded together to create their own unique sound. Melodic, alternative pop melodies are intertwined with heavy guitar riffs signaling the influences of hardcore. The two styles go well with the subject matter of the album in which singer/songwriter and guitarist Sean Cass belts out regal, Morrissey-like vocals about losing love, searching for answers and discovering one's self. Songs, "Go On," and "Realize," have been added to various compilations of Bay Area and national bands.

Midnight in a Perfect World hands in a solid effort for a debut LP.

Bio

Singer/songwriter Sean Cass and Phil Pristia met while working on a music project at Chico State University. They soon enlisted Dennis Rodriguez on drums and upon graduation made their way to San Francisco to find bassist Fran Dickinson through a craigslist ad.

They hooked up with Jerry Becker (who produced Rob Hotchkiss of Train) to record and produce their self-titled LP. Using a strong collaborative effort, every new song over the last year has grown out of an idea being taken somewhere different by another band member. Each person had the chance to morph it into the final version.

Straying from the hyped PR of drug abuse and band implosions, Midnight... kick out the jams by remaining everyday people committed to each song. Their drive to push themselves and each other is clearly seen by each audience who craves to hear more.
