"Midnight Outlaw from Antioch High School"

A rock band from Antioch High School will take to the big stage at The Metro in Chicago Saturday night as part of the annual Hammerfest concert.

Midnight Outlaw, a heavy metal/progressive group influenced by 1980s hair bands, will be one of the up-and-coming local bands opening for Lovehammers, an established Chicago rock outfit that headlines Hammerfest annually.

Midnight Outlaw was persistent in gaining the attention of Lovehammers in order to get a spot on the bill, and the Antioch students have already had a chance to meet and talk with members of Lovehammers, who have put out several albums and enjoy a large following in Chicago.

For Midnight Outlaw, which has been together about a year, this will obviously be a monster gig and its largest public appearance by far.

“We’re pretty stoked. We’ve been working our butts off and everything is getting to sound good,” said Cade England, drummer for Midnight Outlaw. The band also includes vocalist Patrick Keefe, Tom Kocal on bass and guitarist Jake Hebior.

Midnight Outlaw will be the first band playing and the set will include both originals and cover songs, including Van Halen’s “Panama.”

There is an intergenerational vibe going on with Midnight Outlaw’s appearance at Hammerfest, and it doesn’t just involve the age difference between the high school students and members of Lovehammers. England’s Mother Kim England has been a Lovehammers fan since before her son was born and describes their music as “rock with a New Age twist.”

“I saw them play at Cubby Bear in Chicago the year Cade was born,” she said.

Kim England said she believes Lovehammers is a great role model for her son’s band in terms of the music they play, work ethic and clean living.

“They are always looking for new young bands to open for them at Hammerfest,” she said. “It was a big deal for the boys.”

Kim said she is more than a little nervous about Midnight Outlaw’s big moment Saturday at Metro.

“I’m scared to death,” she said. “I want everything to go perfectly.”

Bio

Midnight Outlaw brings back the sound of real rock but with a twist of their own.

Hailing from Antioch, IL, Midnight Outlaw officially formed in August 2010. The band consists of 4 members: lead singer Patrick Keefe, guitarist Jake Hebior, bassist Tom Kocal, and drummer Cade England. The band cites influences of Motley Crue, Ratt, Godsmack, Van Halen, Crashdiet, Rush, and Metallica.

Midnight Outlaw is currently working on their first album. Already "Dirty Ego" has proven to be a huge hit with the fans. Other titles on the album include "Alley Drive," "Sweet Poison," and "Heart Attack City."

Midnight Outlaw's fan base is growing quickly. They have won three battle of the band contests in the past several months and have played gigs at KC's Cabin, US Cellular Field, and the historic Portage Theater in Chicago. Midnight Outlaw recently opened a sold-out show at the Metro for Chicago's own Lovehammers. According to Marty Casey, "Midnight Outlaw is on the fast track to become the 'next big thing' in Chicago. They are well versed in 70's fuzz, 80's metal and modern rock. They take all those influences and construct potent original songs with a sound all their own." He continued to say, "I love this band!"
