The Midnight Steppers got their start in Cincinnati clubs back in the late '80s and have gone through many permutations before arriving at their present duo format. Combining a deep and varied range of traditional blues from Lonnie Johnson to the Memphis Jug Band to Bukka White with original songs by Ellis and Nager, the Steppers bring all those sounds to the stage in a high-energy, take-no-prisoners show. To the Midnight Steppers, acoustic blues is neither a museum piece nor a laidback way to spend a backporch afternoon, but a living, breathing, vital musical expression that can still rock the house, whether that house is a juke joint, club or festival.
