"Greatest Songs You've Never Heard"

Midnight Sun was recently featured on KGO radio's The Best Music You've Never Heard

"I love the music. Would that be on a cruise ship? It would be, I bet it would be fun!"

-- Ron Owens & Brad Kava, KGO 810, The Best Music You've Never Heard - KGO 810

"MIDNIGHT SUN BREAKS THROUGH"

Backstage, before the biggest show of their career, the six members of Midnight Sun stood in a circle holding hands, jitters all around. Meditative words were spoken, then their voices united in singing “Rivers of Babylon” before the group filed out to open for Sly and the Family Stone, Oct. 17 at Santa Rosa’s Wells Fargo Center.

Midnight Sun’s message is one of peace, love, healing and freedom from oppression, all floating on a seductive, pulsating beat; an invitation to join them, to live inside their music. Onstage, dreadlocks flying, bootys shaking, they worked their way through a highly-seasoned pastiche of ‘blues, rock, Caribbean, soca, reggae, calypso, 95 percent original,’ as described by bandleader Milo Karobi. The band has opened for such stars as Jimmy Cliff, the Neville Brothers, Pato Banton and Don Carlos.

After their performance at the Wells Fargo Center, the band members, pleasantly dazed, faces lit by satisfaction, returned to the small backstage waiting room, to be feted with pretzels, fruit and congratulations from family and friends. They were told an agent from BMI was sniffing around and somebody said, “the CDs are goin’ like hotcakes.”

Oh yeah, Sly and the Family Stone played too.
