"The Hoya"

"Thursday night's show...was all about convincing the crowd that these everyday Georgetown kids are, in fact, undercover superstars--from the leather and glitter to the drummer's onstage beer and the guitarist's periodic puff on a cigarette. They make the transformation from student to onstage star look easy. Scratch that. They don't make it look easy, they make it look like a whole lot of fun. The show was a driving blur of boundless energy, raw attitude and sexy costumes that made you intensely jealous that you weren't the one up there belting it out." - Amanda McGrath

"The Voice"

"Looking for a good excuse to blow off studying for that Econ midterm Thursday night? Giving up hard drinking for Lent? Tired of NOT ROCKING OUT? A solution is at hand, and it goes by the name of [Midnite Roger]...So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets...and prepare for a blast this weekend." - Neal Coll

"The Grog and Tankard"

"Midnite Roger is a great new upcoming local band with an awesome stage presentation and kick ass covers and originals." - Colin Hoss

"Artist that should be on your radar, calendar and CD player"

Describing themselves as "modern psychedelic rock," the five young guys that make up The Midnite Roger have only been playing together for a year, but they have put together a consistent sound. The group was born out of Georgetown University's Cabaret program, a variety show of student players to benefit the D.C. Schools Project. Coming from that impromptu origin, The Midnite Roger (does the name indicate a person or an activity?) now plays Sublime-like jams and arena-style rock, with percussive multi-guitar beats and ska-inspired sax harmonies. They have yet to record, but audiences respond to their college-rock energy. - On Tap Media Magazine

"Striking the Chords of Compromise"

"The best thing about this band is it just looks like they 're having a great time up there," said fan Lauren Eyler. "They make you feel like you 've been invited to a jam session at a private party." ------Ashley Ahearn (for full article: http://www.georgetownvoice.com/news/714472.html?mkey=382266)

Bio

Exalting their name from personal tales of tragic irony, The Midnite Roger is emerging as one of the most promising and talented young bands of their time. Coalescing a vintage classic rock sound with a heavy modern alternative twist, their sound is distinct and refreshing, with driving bass lines and searing guitar riffs. The Midnite Roger sound beckons memories of a young Jim Morrison, giving tribute to bands from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Guns n’ Roses to Black Crowes.

Scintillating live performance has been The Midnite Roger’s focal point and primary weapon of choice for spreading the MR gospel, branding an indelible mark in the minds of the audience. Spending most of 2004 playing shows from DC to NYC, the band has been able to hone their skills and perfect their style while still connecting with fans. All this from a band that almost never happened…

In 2003, only three bands were out trying to make a name for themselves at Georgetown, the school all members attended. By the end of the year, after achieving local success, all three bands disbanded, leaving guitarist Chaucer, bassist Shuster, and drummer Capone, each in rivaling bands, with no musical outlet. They were scattering around Washington DC, searching for the right musical chemistry. Chaucer had started another modern rock band, while Shuster and Capone tried to pull together another jam band project, each with modest success. It was at this time that they were invited by a close musical friend to tryout for Georgetown’s annual charity rock show called Cabaret. After some coaxing, the three decided to audition, and eventually, each earned a spot in the elite musical group. The three musicians, who just months before were denigrating each other’s music, were forced to collaborate and make music. In their minds, this musical union was only temporary. Vocalist Chaz and guitarist Viano were then added to the musical powderkeg—at this point, the real sound of The Midnite Roger was slowly developing and evolving.

Despite preconceived ideas of each other’s musical abilities and tastes, the band started writing songs together. Unexpectedly, the band started making music that struck an explosive chord—to them and to their audience. After successfully performing the charity show, the members decided that they should continue to write and perform—thus, rising from the ashes of past musical endeavours and Cabaret, the fantastic phoenix known as The Midnite Roger had finally emerged.

Things started moving quickly after that—performing sold out shows (and several not-so-sold-out shows) throughout 2004 in DC, MD, VA and NY, The Midnite Roger was quickly propelled onto the regional music circuit. The release of the Paul is Dead to Me EP has earned the band regional attention and local independent label interest, and continues to intrigue listeners.

The Midnite Roger has something to say and they want you to listen. Through aggressive touring and marketing, the band hopes to engage its listeners and put on a show like they’ve not seen before. The Midnite Roger will prove through its music and live show that the light shines brightest in DC.
