Bio
Midori Hamada was born in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to NYC in Fall of 1998, where she has been living for the last six years. She started playing music almost a decade ago and was thrilled to move to New York to join the art rock scene she had obsessed over while living in Tokyo. Soon after coming Stateside, Midori formed the band "knocked out loaded," touring clubs in the US and Japan and playing festivals such as Tront Canada and CMJ. knocked out loaded released an album in 2002, which was distributed throughout the US and Japan.
The band broke up in 2003, and Midori began work on her own solo project. Her debut EP - "Esia Austral" - will be released Fall 2004. The sound is a mix of electronic and rock elements - a stunning collage of intricate melodic guitar lines, driving rhythms, and off-beat samples. Her influences range from German Krautrock like Can, Neu!, and Kraftwerk to 70s progressive rock like Pink Floyd to trip hop and hip hop. In her dreamy solo performances, Midori plays guitar and keybaord and sings over her laptop while videos project images created collaboratively with her friends.
This show will be with two support member Yusuke Hama and Jonathan Hinton
