While following the crowd seemed to be the ideal thing to do for most people, doing what others did never seemed to work out for Virginia native Mikal Townsend. Purpose was not quite clear however, Mikal did realize that he had a genuine desire to help people in some way. Having a secular rap background, Mikal became further unfulfilled with his talent because he felt as though there was more that could be offered with his music.
Years after graduating high school Mikal would face one of his toughest challenges to date. In 2004 he was diagnosed with a vision disease that doctors stated there was no cure for. As the disease progressed Mikal began to struggle tremendously with daily tasks that had been easy for him for years prior to the progression. This placed a damper on not only his vision, but his life! He could no longer "see" himself fulfilling his dreams or accomplishing those things that his heart desired. This was the crossroads in which Mikal felt that he could either believe or curl up and die. During this time, Mikal understood that it was imperative that he learn to depend solely on GOD and not on himself or anyone else. He began to depend on GOD for even the smallest tasks of life such as recognizing people people that he has known his entire life or driving a car.
Trying times such as these, along with common fleshly struggles made Mikal realize that JESUS CHRIST if all that we have despite a person's status or well-being. These times also provided fuel to ignite the fire of hope in CHRIST which would now become the message of his music. As Mikal uses Biblical principles to fight backs against the attacks that have been placed on his life, he seeks to shed Marvelous Light on the lives of believers and unbelievers as well.
Today, upon releasing his debut independent album "HE's All I Got", GOD has placed Mikal in a position where he is able to help curb the feelings of hopelessness and anxiety by praying with them and encouraging them in the Word of GOD. Mikal also continues to fulfill desire of helping others as an active member of a Christian-based nonprofit organization which strives to meet the needs of those in the community.
