WHO: "Mics @ Maccabees” showcase
WHERE: Maccabees at Midtown, Detroit
WHEN: Friday, May 29, 2015

With all the new hip-hop acts coming out of Detroit, it can be hard to keep up, let alone find out when and where these new artists perform. Maccabees, is a bar and restaurant in midtown, held the first ever “Mics @ Maccabees” showcase, run by Detroit rapper and producer Mike Fate. The performances followed an open mic, which included poetry, rapping, singing and even some dancing.

"This is my first time ever actually running a show or concert myself, but I’ve been performing for a while," the 20-year-old rapper and producer said. “My goal is to actually throw a much bigger show at St. Andrews later this summer, but I need to run a few smaller shows first to see if I can pull it off."

“This is our first show like this here, but we will probably do three or four more here throughout the summer,” he said. Mike Fate scheduled the artists on the ticket himself, choosing acts that he considers, “reliable and talented.”

Among the artists who performed were Detroit’s own Young Zu, Uzi Gunnz, The Captain, Lex Wolf and more up and coming artists who are all friends of Mike Fate. “I’m open to the idea of working with any artists, DJ’s, producers or whoever reaches out to me,” he said. “I feel like [Detroit artists] would be better if we tried doing stuff together from time to time.” - Bryce Karl Huffman

"A Journey Of The "Self w/ Mike Fate"

| Mike Fate | A Journey Of The "Self" |
"...I'm back. Fast forward a few years... I've been able to make new memories. Mostly, good ones. All except for that one category of 'moments; memories.' The last few highlights made me kinda...sick. Then, things got interesting..."

The following verse begins by painting a picture of a universally in-tuned Mike Fate with a new sense and outlook on the world around him, a talent I had the honor of coming across recently and I am quite pleased to introduce to you. The mixtape follows the path and journey of young Mike depicting verbal commissions of a spiritual growth with a touch of finding ones place in the universe; true love.

This is a 17-track project called "Speak My Peace" it has been streaming on SoundCloud, BandCamp & his official site which has embedded widgets powered by SoundCloud. I am humbled to have the chance to have spoken with Mike, many times and he says, "My inspiration for Speak My Peace was my mindset as a 21 year old, in this lifetime, as a black man." Lyrical influences include "Kid Cuddi, J Cole, Chance The Rapper & Kendrick Lamar" and you can definitely hear it in tracks like, Windows, Silver Lining,

When I heard Windows, I thought he established a feature by Kid Cuddi. Where there are a plethura of artists that can simulate and/or emulate other artists, Mike Fate accels with defining the thin line between the two. In "Silver Lining" one can experience nostalgia, almost like hearing a MellowHype hidden gem with the Dudley Perkins swing. He and Jay Oragami definitely have chemestry to execute superb "Bounce." (That's called the "Heart beat" in DREADSPERADO.)

"I call it a mixtape but it really feels like an album. I spent over a year working on this project meeting producers like Pulse Tone from France, TheBeatPlug from YouTube, and even producing a little myself. My lyrical ability is my favorite part about making music. " - Mike Fate; CYT Magazine Interview - Cel-Man Iller, Tha Immortal (DREADSPERADO)

Bio

I am Mike Fate from Detroit, Michigan.  I'm an experienced recording artist that also knows how to produce, mix and master. Starting in 2012 with "Square Crew" I released my first Single "Milkduds & Asscheeks" which started attracting young fans. After sending a few of our first songs to an online radio station in Atlanta named "A105 Radio", we won the opportunity to perform in a club in Georgia. After returning from the trip, I released my first project "Libra off the scale". After going solo in 2014, I started working with my first manager who published my music and started collaborating with Swag Official to start my modeling career. Since my first manager, I was booked in California, Atlanta, and New York. In 2018 my manager decided to stay as my publisher and I joined "Top Shelf Or Die" as a model and artist. Since then I've performed for "Raw" at St. Andrews and "TrapxArt" El CLub.
