Bio
Mike Bauer is a musician and guitarist based in Nolensville, TN. His music can be described as instrumental groove and jam and explores a variety of styles from rock to funk to jazz to country while keeping a "pop" home base.
Mike Bauer's musical journey began in the 1980's in Long Island, New York playing in high school rock bands. Then his musical direction took a turn in college where he studied classical guitar. After a couple of years, Mike transferred to the prestigious University of Miami, Florida where he studied jazz guitar. While still in college, he auditioned and became part of Miami's high profile blues band, IKO-IKO. During his time with IKO-IKO, they opened shows for Blood Sweat & Tears, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, backed up Bo- Diddley and even jammed with David Lee Roth.
In 1998, Mike moved to Nashville. Since then he has been a studio and touring guitarist as well as a seminar clinician. He has played alongside some of Nashville's biggest stars touring and/or recording with artists such as (in country music), Pam Tillis, Chely Wright and Little Big Town, and (in Christian music) with Point of Grace, David Phelps, and Sarah Groves.
While recording Mike’s first CD, My Own World, he drew from his diverse musical experiences and returned to what first motivated him as a kid. "I've been trying to get back in touch with my inner teenager" Mike says, "longing to recapture that uninhibited reckless abandon and at the same time, bringing a deeper level of maturity as well". Mike describes his musical style as "groove-hearted fun".
