Mike Bobesich - Biography
Mike Bobesich is an up-and-coming guitarist currently residing in North York, Ontario. He is attending Seneca College for Independent Music Production, where his demo was critiqued amongst hundreds of applicants by a panel of judges before being accepted. Upon completion of this program, he plans on taking the skills and experience gained from school and promoting his music independently,
as well as continuing to develop himself as a guitarist and a musician in general.
As a solo artist, Mike has developed an independent playing style, writing instrumental parts on guitar, bass and drums. Influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his own music is heavily guitar based, blending all styles -- from rock, blues, funk, to acid jazz -- with strong improvisational skills.
His goal is to move away from generic pop acts and get back to the roots of rock, that is, musicians playing there instruments well with emotion and creativity. Taking his cue from his favourite artists, Mike brings that sound into the modern music scene with a rich sonic palette of effects, riffs and heavy, driving rhythms.
In the studio, Mike arranges and composes for all instruments, utilizing today’s recording technology to deliver his musical vision as close as possible. He is currently playing small to mid-size venues in Toronto and always delivers high energy performances. Although there’s not a huge demand for this style of music on the radio, his playing has intrigued audiences, who might begin to realize that this style of experimental rock has been overlooked for many years.
For the next few months, Mike plans on improving his skills as a guitarist and continuing to grow as an artist, as well as gaining some experience and
knowledge of recording and promotion through school. In the meantime, he will continue to search for his own ‘sound’ and develop it through live shows and recording in the studio. New material will continue to be written and songs will be re-worked until perfected. Mike’s playing is loud and hard and with his unique blend of blues and rock, he's sure to be an artist to watch for in the future.
