Love Town

Lyrics/Love Town

V1. When I was 15, oh I knew a girl.
She had a smile that would light up the world.
I moved away.. oh to go to school, and
I missed that train to Love Town.

V2. When I was 18, oh I knew a girl.
We had a time and we gave life a whirl.
We loved and laughed and we broke each other’s hearts,
And I missed that train to Love Town.

Chorus:
Love Town… Love Town….
What Time does the train leave?
Where do I get my ticket? For
Love Town… Love Town…
What time is the next train?
How do I know if it’s goin’ there?

V3. When I was 21, Oh I knew a girl
We took a chance and we let love unfurl.
We settled down, and we went to work,
And I missed that train to Love Town.

Chorus:
Love Town… Love Town….
What Time does the train leave?
Where do I get my ticket? For
Love Town… Love Town…
What time is the next train?
How do I know if it’s goin’ there?

Bridge:
Gonna fly.. oh I’m gonna fly tonight
Wait and and see, what mysteries I see…
When I lay down.. and I pray to God for peace.
I can see her clear as day, but when I wake up she’s gone away to…

Chorus:
Love Town… Love Town….
What Time does the train leave?
Where do I get my ticket? For
Love Town… Love Town…
What time is the next train?
How do I know if it’s goin’ there?

Chorus:
Love Town… Love Town….
What Time does the train leave?
Where do I get my ticket? For
Love Town… Love Town…
What time is the next train?
How do I know if it’s goin’ there?

Giant Raisin Waltz

Giant Raisin 44

V1. The summer came... and ended with a bang.
My heart stepped up.. to the mike and sang.
... to rearrange
two hearts began to meld... and boy it felt a little strange

Bridge:
There we were.. feedin' Giant Raisins to the ducks..
Five or six drinks on the table...
Noticing a change in our luck.. like the characters in an ancient fable..

Lead In:
And these words... would echo in my ear...

Chorus:
What did you do all summer?
Did you take a class?
Did you solve the secrets of the universe?

What did you do all summer?
Did you play it cool?
Did you find a better place to get rehearsed?
Oh no... oh no.. I fell in love.

V2. The Winter solstice came... yeah she blew in with a rush..
So many things have changed... but I still look at you and blush..
Singin' Old Devil Moon.. and Just the Way You Are..
You picked my heart up off the shelf... and hung it on a star...

Extra Bridge:
There we were.... Crusin' down the streets of San Antone..
Playin' you a song on my trombone....
Lookin' for some time to be alone...
Havin' the best time we'd ever known....

Eternal Family

Lyrics/Eternal Family

V1. Well you paid some dues…
But you’re still tryin’ to find your way.
And you played some gigs,
But you’re looking for a better day.

V2. Now you’re on your own,
With an old suit and a beat up horn.
And you make some calls,
You find a club that will put you on…..

Chorus1.
So you play your set, and as you’re packin’ up your case,
You can taste the sweat, rollin’ down your face,
Like a thousand cats before…
Your Eternal Family.

V3.Tryin’ to make ends meet…
Playin jazz, night and day
Life is bittersweet.
But once you’ve had a taste, it’s the only way….

V4. Angels in the wings,
When you step on stage, it’s like Deja Vu
Somewhere Sarah sings,
To pull you up, when you’re feelin’ blue

Chorus 2
Just remember Diz and Bird and Lady Day,
Coltrane and Miles and old JJ,
And if you play jazz, that’s your Eternal Family

To Solos:

V5.Tryin’ to make ends meet…
Playin jazz, night and day
Life is bittersweet.
But once you've had a taste, it’s the only way….

V6. Angels in the wings,
When you step on stage, it’s like Deja Vu
Somewhere Sarah sings,
To pull you up, when you’re feelin’ blue

Chorus 3
Just remember Diz and Bird and Lady Day,
Coltrane and Miles and old JJ,
And if you play jazz, that’s your Eternal Family

(Outro)
What would Ella Do?
When confronted with the task at hand?
What would JJ Do?
Or Jaco, or Slide, would they understand?

What would Armstrong say?
Or Lester Young, or Jelly Roll?
What would Ornette play?
Or Horace or Frank Rosolino?

1. They call you the Assistant Professor
You ain't got no time to waste.
Got to write you some books and articles
So you can get that extra taste...

Chorus:
Better get you some tenure....
Whooo lawd... won't that be fine...
Gonna be a party.. hey hey...
When you finally cross that line

2. Monday mornin's kinda weird..
Tuesday's even worse...
They say the chairman’s been lookin' for you...
They call that the tenure track curse...

Chorus:
Better get you some tenure....
Whooo lawd... won't that be great.
Gonna be a party.. hey hey...
It will certainly be first-rate

3. Wednesday comes and goes..
You’re ryin' to avoid.. “you know who...”
‘Cause you know he's gonna give you that tenure lecture..
Tryin’ to scare the livin' heck out of you...

Chorus:
Better get you some tenure....
Oh God!... won't that be a thrill..
Gonna be a celebration.. hey hey...
When you reach, the top of that hill

4. Now its Thursday.. and you're supposed to be over the hump..
But you feel more like the hump is over you...
Seems like the more you do... The more you do..
And the more they expect from you.

Chorus:
Better get you some tenure....
Gosh, won’t that be nice
You’ll throw a party.. hey hey...
And you won’t even notice the price

5. It's been 5 LONG years.. since you had any fun.
"Yes sir, no sir... This Saturday will be fine"
You know you've got to finish... that dissertation
On “the healing effects of Music and sufferers of the island affliction known as: Pneumoneuromicroscopicscilicovolcanoconiosis”

Chorus:
Better get you some tenure....
Oh my goodness, I hope you survive.
After what you’ve been through,
I’m surprised, you’re even still alive.

6. They say even God was denied tenure.
And that's why he's not around any more.
Said he only had one major publication
And it was a heck-of-a-long time ago.

Chorus:
Better get you some tenure....
Whoo lawd… here’s to better days…
You’ll throw a party, that’s for sure.
And if you’re lucky, you’ll even get a raise.

Christmas... Christmas... It’s here again...
Gee it’s just too bad that grandma can’t be there this year....
I’ve got that Same Old Feelin’ again.....

Shopping...... Shopping.... the malls are packed.....
I’m just glad to be alive.... in a world as fine as this...
I’ve got that Same Old Feelin’ again.....

(Bridge)
I made my reservations on that flight to Acapulco.. my bags are packed my passport is in order....

The Suntan lotion’s in the bag.. everything is lookin’ good... in three more days I’ll be south of the border.

Lovers..... Lovers..... at every turn....
It’s a hard time to be alone, but I guess we’ll all survive
I’ve got that Same Old Feelin’ again.....

(Bridge 2)
I made my reservations on that plane down to Belize.. my bags are packed my passport is in order....

The Suntan lotion’s in the bag.. everything is lookin’ good... in three more days I’ll be south of the border.

Children.. playing… and running free…
Technicolor rainbows wrapped up by the Christmas tree.. I’ve got that Same Old Feelin’ again.....

(tag)
We’re all warm and toasty... but what about the rest?....
I’ve got that Same Old Feelin’ again.....

“The List”

Verse 1:
Add me to the list..... of all the guys in love with you....
I don’t know what i’ve missed.. I’ve been alone too long...
Living in a mist... I wish it all would go away...
Sure as hell...well.. this too shall pass...

Verse 2:
Everyone can tell... i guess the cat is out the bag....
I don’t even care... i just want happiness...
One more thing.... i love you... or did I mention that?...
and i count the days .. till we can be alone....

Chorus:
Stay with me... This is my final sales pitch...
Stay with me.... My love will carry you along....
Stay with me... I know that I can be strong for you...
Come on and stay with me, and everything will be ok...

Verse 3:
Everyone will tell you... the same old story....
Tales of love... tales of do or die...
They all have this in common... the answer’s still unknown....
We’re all alone.... as the world turns...

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 4:
One more thing we learn in life is to tell the truth.....
Most of the time it will serve you well alright....
The only way to find out... is to give it up...
Give up your love... and love will turn the key......

(Repeat Chorus)

Alt. Verse 4:
So many questions come to mind, as we go through life
The answers they are few and far between……(sometimes)
The only way to find out, is to just give up.
Give up your love, and love will turn the key.

Hell Freeway

Verse 1:
Motor’s turnin’, rollin down the Hell Freeway…
Fires are burnin’, but I gotta do it my way
Lookin’ back at this life, tryin’ to plan my getaway..
Tryin’ not to jack knife, that’s what I’m tryin’ to say

Chorus:
Hell Freeway, Hell Freeway…
And I see in the mirror, the bandits on my wing….
Hell Freeway, Hell Freeway…
Tryin’ to stay clear… and watchin’ out for everything.

Verse 2:
Watchin’ out for everything, keepin’ my signals clear
Lights down in LA, are drawing slowly near
Run-in with the law, keepin’ me from burnin’ faster
Man with the badge, has become the freeway master

Chorus:
Hell Freeway, Hell Freeway
I see in the mirror, the bandits on my wing
Hell Freeway, Hell Freeway
Tryin’ to stay clear, and watchin’ out for everything.

Bridge:
You got the word that fix is in from an anonymous tip
But they say that prize at the end is worth all the bullshit
Some people sayin’ I should turn back now and call it a day
But I can’t find a high speed exit, on this Hell Freeway, Hell Freeway

Solo: (Over Chorus)

REPEAT CHORUS and out
