"US Artist Heads to Wagga"

(Australian press release...) Purely Amazing - is the immediate common reaction from anyone who witnesses a set from New York based singer/songwriter Mike Clifford. From his first note hitting the air waves whether he's "on the radio" - while you're frustrated and stuck in traffic, rocking out live in a loud over crowded bar or giving an intimate concert performance in a dimly lit theatre nestled in the belly of the east village-there is always a calming, immediate reaction. Mike's voice is honest and true. It cuts straight to your heart as you feel yourself being moved, challenged and inspired by lyrics which even the finest of poets would be proud of. Growing up in Jersey, later moving to New York City, Mike has grown alongside artists such as Gavin Degraw and premiered new songs in the same small bars and underground venues as Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond and Paul Simon did not so many years before. Mike is continuing to write great songs and build a fan base in the entertainment centre of the world. As his website suggests "first grade teacher by day...Singer/songwriter by night" Mike is a qualified NYC teacher. Although being easily successful enough to give the teaching away Mike continues to teach first grade as he is inspired by being a part of the development of such young beautiful minds. In July last year Mike, whilst performing at an intimate West Village venue Caffe Vivaldi, randomly met Clint Crighton and Luke Dolahenty, two Australian singer/songwriters who were on tour in the USA and playing at the same venue. The three immediately became friends and began partying, jamming and eventually playing some great shows together. The Australian pair, although planning on returning in 2007 to New York, invited Mike to come and perform in Australia. So over a quiet scotch in a bar on the corner of 1st avenue and 9th street the plan was born. Now, some six months later Mike Clifford is about to make his Australian Debut. It is sure to be the first of many tours down under as Mike's popularity continues to grow. It is a show not to be missed from an artist who in years to come will be a world wide "hit"!

"A Night out In NYC"

The Red Lion bar (Bleeker and Thompson) hosted some fantastic musical talent on Saturday night in the form of New Jersey’s Mike Clifford and New Rochelle’s Kevin Haden. The guys rocked the Village hot-spot with an acoustic set comprising their own delectable indie-rock material plus some covers ranging from Sublime to Prince. Combined, Mike and Kevin’s vocals are an amazing blend of soulful potency and meritorious flair. If you haven’t witnessed one of their previous performances, I highly recommend that you check Mike and Kevin out at one of their upcoming gigs: August 31st at Café Vivaldi (Jones Street - off Bleeker between 6th and 7th Ave) at 9.30 pm or September 1st back at the Red Lion. Check out www.myspace.com/mikeclifford for a preview, and gig dates - then go see!

Backed by some of NYC’s finest musicians and recorded at the world renowned Magic Shop, Clifford’s debut LP puts a modern spin on American roots music. The record features performances by Tim Luntzel (Norah Jones, Bright Eyes), Tony Mason (Joan Osbourne, Martha Wainwright, Bo Diddley) and John Dryden (The Little Willies).
Clifford has played some of New York City’s most famous venues (The Bitter End, The Living Room, Tonic, South Paw…) and performed with a number of world renowned artists, including Gavin DeGraw, The 10,000 Maniacs, and Richie Havens.
Clifford toured the north eastern United States in July, playing for audiences from Maine to Pennsylvania. He recently toured Australia, performing before enthusiastic crowds and on a national radio broadcast (ABC radio). He will be returning for a follow up tour of the continent in August.
