Mike Diplomat and The Misprints
Between The Lines – 5-song CD (FlamGlam Records)

Wearing multiple shades of country, rock, pop, and jam, I guess the best word to describe Mike Diplomat and The Misprints is rootsy. Jaunty and tight, the band offers up a hearty serving of countrified rock in this five-song CD. It’s kind of like that tasty melting of the peanut butter and chocolate in a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup – Mike Diplomat and The Misprints are more of that “chocolate” rock and roll with a twist of country in “Do It Again”; while they twang it up more (peanut butter?) in Track 2’s “War In Texas.” “Perfect California” is a quirky, harmonious country ditty, while “Present Images” showcases the band’s mainstream pop side. Between The Lines closes with a jammy, jazzy light rocker entitled “Movies.” This could sound like an inconsistent collection here, but it truly isn’t. Throughout, the band keeps its feet firmly planted in the roots – they just know how to diversify from that base. Good job. Contact: www.mikediplomat.com / (617) 923-9226

"WBCN"

"Mike Diplomat and the Misprints have created a highly listen-able CD/EP of selections that stroll past the covered wagons on the street, as much as they kick up a two-step stomp without being too country for the rock folks."

"The Noise"

Live Review/Benefit for Halley House, South End:
"The next band is also impressive. For some, it may have been the beautiful weather, but for me it was the singer, Mike Diplomat’s country, devil-may-care attitude that was keeping me lounged out on the couches hugging the stage lined up Montgomery Street. I’m not able to catch the name of the woman playing lead guitar but she has some serious skill. She just won’t stop dishing out these lightning-fast runs up and down the neck. Their set displays a bluegrass edge with a down to earth, homey feel, with a little foot stompin’ and a lot of hand clappin’ to boot. Everyone, including Gordon LaSalle Wurlitzer, the local music store that donated the P.A. system for the day, was chipping in to bring the community together and help out their fellow man. It was great to see and even better to be a part of."
